Weber Wokshops Espresso Paper Filter (EPF)
Weber Workshops has teamed up with Cafec in Japan, the leading manufacturer of high quality coffee paper filters, to launch the first paper filter of its kind, made specifically for espresso and now produced exclusively for Weber Workshops. Available directly from us. Unibasket/Unifilter are the same size.
Why a paper filter?
Paper filters under the coffee puck reduce clogging of the portafilter/unifilter basket holes, allowing for a more consistent extraction. They also prevent higher flow directly at the basket holes, allowing for a more consistent water flow throughout the puck, especially in the lower section. This allows for the use of a finer grind, increasing the extraction yield while maintaining the same shot time. While this adds an extra step, the effort is rewarded with a noticeably improved shot of espresso.
About the paper
In the papermaking process, the roller and dryer drum work at different speeds, creating two different textures on either side of the paper. The smooth side rests against the coffee and the rough side (the "crepe") faces down to allow the liquid to flow evenly into the pores of the portafilter. It's designed to enhance your espresso.
Features
Made in Japan from high quality coffee filter paper produced using the wet crepe process.
