From there it flows in an orderly way into the drain. As long as it is watertight, the machine base stays dry.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOver the years the plastic becomes brittle, and coffee oils and cleaning agents do the rest. Fine cracks first show up as moisture under the machine, later as a puddle on the counter.
