Accordingly, this filter basket is the part that works hardest on a SWIFT – and the one that gets knocked out, rinsed and bumped most often.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt has to match the SWIFT's tamper, otherwise the tamping head won't sit flat and the puck is compressed unevenly. It wears out inconspicuously: first individual holes close up, then the shot runs to one side, and eventually no setting you try on the grinder is right any more.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eDescale first, then replace\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBefore replacing it, it's worth trying to clean it. A filter basket that runs thin and lopsided is usually clogged rather than worn: coffee oils clog the holes, limescale builds up on the inside.
