It catches whatever misses the cup during brewing, whatever comes out of the groups during backflushing and whatever lands there when you knock out the portafilter, and carries it to the drain. This version is for the 3-group machine – in other words, for the bar where three groups run at the same time.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe more groups, the more flows through the drain pan. Milk residue, coffee oils and cleaning agents attack the surface, and at some point water stands in it instead of draining away – because the pan has warped or a corner has corroded.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eWhen it is due\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eReplace the drain pan if it leaks at a seam or at the drain spout, if rust spots or pitting appear, if it is dented and the water no longer runs to the drain, or if you can no longer get it odour-free even after thorough cleaning.
