It softens the jet and spreads it over several openings so the water flows calmly into the cup instead of splashing up the side.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBecause the openings are the narrowest passages in the entire water path, limescale shows up here first. A hard single jet, water spraying out sideways or a whistling sound when you open the tap are the typical signs.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eDescale first, then replace\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA scaled-up spout is almost never a defective spout. Unscrew it, soak it overnight in a descaler from our \u003ca href=\"\/en\/collections\/maschinen-und-muhlenreinigung\"\u003emachine and grinder cleaning\u003c\/a\u003e range, then rinse it thoroughly. In most cases the jet runs cleanly again afterwards.
