Flair Analog Milk Thermometer — Waterproof Thermometer with Stainless Steel Probe and Marked Target Range
You clip the thermometer to the pitcher. The stainless steel probe dips into the milk, the pointer shows 14 °C. You attach the steam wand, start stretching. The pointer moves — past 30 °C, past 45 °C, into the green marked area on the dial. At 60 °C, the "Target" mark appears — you take the pitcher off the wand. Three seconds later, the last few degrees climb up due to residual heat. Reproducible, without battery, without display, without touch.
This is the Flair Analog Milk Steaming Thermometer in everyday use. A 90-gram tool with a classic dial, stainless steel probe, dual scale (Celsius and Fahrenheit), and a marked target range for milk frothing directly on the display. Waterproof — not just splash-resistant. If you want reproducible milk temperatures and can do without a touchscreen, this is the most robust option. We at Coffee Coaching Club are the exclusive Swiss importer for Flair Espresso.
What distinguishes the Analog Thermometer
Waterproof (not just splash-proof)
The most important distinction from the digital model. The Analog is completely waterproof — you can rinse it under the tap, soak it in a cleaning solution, and use it without problems in a wet café environment. The display is hermetically sealed, no water can enter.
Marked Target Range directly on the dial
On the dial, a colored area for the ideal milk frothing range is marked (typically 60–65 °C for classic drinks). You don't have to wonder if 62 °C is too little or too much — you see the pointer move into the marked field, then remove the pitcher. A real accelerator when learning, because visual orientation works faster than reading a digital number.
Stainless steel probe for fast measurement
The probe is made of food-safe stainless steel, fast-responding and durable. Reacts in real-time to temperature changes during frothing — important because the temperature rises by several degrees per second.
No battery needed
Unlike the digital thermometer, the Analog does not require power. No battery changes, no worries about empty displays in the middle of a dial-in, no electronics that can break. Robust for daily use for years.
Pitcher Clip for attachment
The clip snaps onto the rim of the pitcher and holds the thermometer securely. Works with the Flair Milk Steaming Pitcher (slot in the handle) and with any other standard pitcher from 350 ml to 1 liter.

Both accurately measure milk temperature. The Analog is more robust and doesn't need a battery — a proven classic solution. The Digital is more clearly readable and reacts even faster. Both are in the CCC range; the choice depends on the setup. For most home setups, the Analog is perfectly sufficient; the Digital is the more demanding solution for professional volumes or if touchscreen operation is desired.
Who needs the Analog Thermometer?
We see three profiles in the showroom:
Robust home setups. Those who want a classic, durable tool without electronics will find the right choice here. No battery worries, no display that can break, just classic functionality.
Café everyday with cleaning routine. Cafés with high hygiene standards, where equipment is regularly immersed in water or cleaning solution. The waterproof Analog survives this without problems — the splash-resistant Digital not necessarily.
Latte Art learners with visual orientation. The marked Target Range helps to visually recognize the correct temperature — you don't have to read numerical values and then classify whether it's too cold or too hot. The pointer in the colored field is enough of an answer.
Recommended Temperatures
| Drink | Recommended Final Temperature |
|---|---|
| Cappuccino | 60–65 °C |
| Latte | 60–65 °C |
| Cortado / Flat White | 55–60 °C |
| Hot Chocolate | 65–70 °C |
| Oat Milk (Drink Temperature) | 55–60 °C |
| Almond Milk (Drink Temperature) | 50–55 °C |
Important: the thermometer shows rising values during frothing. You remove the pitcher from the wand 3–5 °C below the target, because residual heat continues to act. For a 60-°C target, remove it at approx. 56–57 °C.
Ordering, Delivery, and Consultation
The Flair Analog Milk Steaming Thermometer can be ordered online at the Coffee Coaching Club or picked up in the showroom in Zurich Oerlikon or Bern. Delivery throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein within 2–4 business days. As the exclusive Swiss importer for Flair Espresso, we have the thermometer and the entire Flair range on site.
In the showroom, you can see the thermometer on the Flair Milk Pitcher, try out the dial and the clip. For questions about choosing between Analog and Digital, we will go through it with you.
Cleaning and Care
Rinse the probe immediately after each use with warm water. For stubborn milk residues, use Urnex BioCaf Alkaline Milk Cleaner — soak the probe in the 30-ml-per-500-ml solution for 5 minutes, rinse, dry. Since the Analog Thermometer is waterproof, the display can also be rinsed under the tap — this is a real advantage over the digital model.
Frequently Asked Questions
What temperature should I aim for with cappuccino?
The sweet spot is 60–65 °C final temperature. Since residual heat continues, it's worth taking it off at 56–57 °C. On the Analog dial, the pointer moves into the marked Target Range, which is your visual signal.
How does the marked Target Range work?
On the dial, the ideal milk frothing area is colored (typically the 55–65 °C range). You don't have to classify numerical values — you see if the pointer is in the field or not. Faster for learning than a pure numerical display.
Waterproof or splash-resistant?
The Analog Thermometer is completely waterproof — you can rinse it under the tap or soak it in a cleaning solution. The Digital Thermometer is only splash-proof (water-resistant). This is the most important distinction between the two models.
How does the pitcher clip work?
The clip snaps onto the rim of the pitcher and holds the thermometer securely. The stainless steel probe dips into the milk, the dial remains visible on the outside. Works with standard pitchers from 350 ml to 1 liter.
Does the thermometer fit the Flair Milk Pitcher?
Yes. The Flair Milk Steaming Pitcher has an integrated thermometer slot in the handle, into which the Analog Thermometer can be directly inserted. With the handle removed, the standard pitcher clip works.
What is the difference to the Digital Thermometer?
The Analog is waterproof (Digital is only splash-proof), does not require a battery, and has a marked Target Range directly on the dial. The Digital has a touchscreen display and is more clearly numerically readable. Analog is cheaper and more robust, Digital is faster and more precise. Both measure reliably.
Does the thermometer work with plant-based milk?
Yes. Plant-based milks have narrower temperature sweet spots than cow's milk — oat milk at 55–60 °C, almond milk at 50–55 °C. The marked Target Range helps visually hit these narrower ranges.
Can the thermometer go in the dishwasher?
Even if the Analog is waterproof, we recommend hand washing. Dishwasher detergents are more aggressive than dish soap and can attack the stainless steel surface over time.
How long does the Analog Thermometer last?
With proper use, years — no electronics, no battery, no touchscreen. Robust and durable.
Do you offer Swiss service for Flair products?
Yes. Coffee Coaching Club is the exclusive Swiss importer for Flair Espresso. We have thermometers, pitchers, machines, and the entire Flair range on site in both showrooms, plus personal consultation. For questions: office@coffeecoachingclub.ch.
Roastery Tip
The Analog Thermometer is often the more intuitive choice for learning, because the marked Target Range works visually faster than reading a number. My suggestion from showroom practice: start with the Analog and learn how the pitcher's heat and the stretching sound correlate to the pointer's position. After a few weeks, you'll know the feeling by hand and hardly need the thermometer anymore — but it remains useful for plant-based milk and difficult extractions. For Cozy Chocolate in milk, aim the pointer at 56 °C — residual heat will bring you to 60–62 °C, and the chocolate-caramel aromas will come through clearly. For Very Nutty as a cappuccino bean, you can go a bit hotter — remove at 58 °C, which gives a greater perception of sweetness. Once you reliably hit the pointer in the green field, you've learned the most important thing. That's my view from the showroom, one of many.
