Philosophy of the Coffee Coaching Club

How Passion Arose from Coincidence – and Community from Passion

The Coffee Coaching Club was never planned as a business. Truly not.

In the beginning, there was no business plan, no growth strategy, and certainly no idea of getting rich. In the beginning, there was a house. A house we wanted to live in – and which included a commercial space. A commercial space that we couldn't simply rent out. So we asked ourselves: What suits us? What feels right?

The answer came quietly. And it smelled of coffee.

What followed wasn't one big step, but many small ones. One of them was a tamper. Not just any tamper, but the Normcore Tamper. A damn good tool – which simply wasn't available in Switzerland. The manufacturer themselves eventually said: "Why don't you just import it yourselves?"

And that's exactly how it started.

Not out of calculation, but out of need. Not because we saw a market, but because we wanted something that wasn't available here. So we started offering coffee items that weren't otherwise available in Switzerland. And that's exactly what we continue to do to this day. Always with the same goal: to offer you as much choice as possible – no more, no less.

We won't get rich from it. But rich in encounters, conversations, shared learning moments – most certainly.

Our Values in Everyday Life

Our philosophy is also evident where it might not always be comfortable. We repair instead of throwing away. We test devices before selling them. We help you with correct operation because we know that technology is only enjoyable when you understand it. And yes: you bear the cost of return shipping to us. Not because we want to shirk responsibility – but because we firmly believe that we are all in the same boat. Sharing responsibility is just as important to us as good coffee.

This also includes a topic that many shops prefer to keep quiet about: our restocking fee for returns. Large platforms can cross-subsidize "free returns" with capital that we don't have. For us, every return means manual work – checking, re-entering, re-sorting – plus payment fees that no one refunds us. Instead of discreetly factoring these costs into all prices, we make them visible: only those who initiate a return pay – not the entire community. Here we explain this openly and in detail.

Social Commitment: Our Partnership with the Enzian Foundation

For us, responsibility goes beyond the cup. In collaboration with the Enzian Foundation – a Zurich institution for professional integration – we create real prospects for people with health impairments. What this means in concrete terms:

  • Work Placements in the Business: Employees of the Enzian Foundation work directly with us – in the warehouse, shipping, and roastery. Not an alibi project, but lived daily reality.
  • Active Reintegration: We support the transition back into the primary job market: with structured coaching, real tasks, and individual support throughout the entire process.
  • Takeover as a Goal: A work trial is not an endpoint for us. We always try to create a permanent position in the Coffee Coaching Club afterwards – with fair wages and real prospects.
  • Local Value Creation: As a Swiss specialist retailer with locations in Bern and Zurich, we strengthen the regional economy and social inclusion directly on site.
Quality Needs the Right Conditions

You know it from coffee: the best beans grow where the climate, soil, and care are right. The same applies to people. When the framework conditions are right, strengths unfold – both professionally and personally. That's why our aim is to enable permanent employment after every work trial – with fair remuneration. Every package you receive from us bears this signature.

More than an Online Shop

The Coffee Coaching Club is not an anonymous online shop. It consists of showrooms full of equipment and tools. Of coffee shops, warehouses, team members. Of time. Time we take for you. All in Switzerland. With you. For you.

Our prices are set so that we can cover our costs here. Fair margins, so we can remain. So we can repair, advise, test, and support. So we can offer you not just products, but experiences.

Experience Coffee – In Our Cafés

Our locations in Bern and Zurich are not sterile sales areas. They are meeting places. We invite you: come by, sit with us, and leave everyday life outside.

Enjoy a cappuccino (prepared on the Slayer, Mahlkönigen, Weber Workshops EG-1, Lagom-01, Varia VS6 and more), try our latest roast as a pour-over, or simply have a quick espresso at the bar. Whether you want to discuss extraction or simply read the newspaper in peace – you are welcome here. Our showrooms are also your café. Your living room. Your Coffee Coaching Club.

Our Biggest Wish

To conquer the coffee world with you. To form a community that helps, motivates, and inspires each other. People who are allowed to ask questions. Who want to learn. Who share. Who grow – together.

From the bottom of our hearts: Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your coffee experience. Thank you for helping us offer more than just products. Thank you for walking this path with us.
