Interactive Coffee Tools & Simulators

Interactive Coffee Tools & Simulators

Coffee is easiest to understand when you can get your hands on it. That's why we've packed our knowledge into interactive tools: move the grind size, ratio, pressure or lever and see straight away what happens inside the machine and in the cup. Every tool has examples you can click and tells you in one sentence what your result means.

We dose by weight and ratio, not by the clock. The tools show you the direction; your cup decides: if you like it, you're right.

Seventeen tools, four kinds. Next to its topic, every card says what the tool does:
  • calculatesnumbers as a result that change with your inputs.
  • showsan animation you can switch through, with no numbers as a result.
  • findspicks out something from our range that fits you.
  • explainsa knowledge page to read, not a tool with settings.
All numbers from the calculating tools are model values, not measurements: estimated and computed, not measured on your machine. The finding tools suggest what fits based on our experience from the showroom and courses. That's an assessment, not a test verdict. Every tool page says what its model is based on.

Espresso Extraction

Dial in by weight and ratio, not by the clock: we grind fine, start at 14.5 g and work our way up, usually to 17 g, at a ratio below 1:2. You see when the cup turns more sour, balanced or more bitter. With examples like “tastes sour” and the extraction yield (EY) in percent. The TDS calculation lives in the Filter Coffee Simulator.
