Electric Espresso Grinders

The electric espresso grinder is the most underestimated component of an espresso setup. A rule of thumb: invest at least as much in the grinder as in the espresso machine. A professional burr grinder extracts noticeably more aroma from every bean than an average grinder from the same bean with the same machine. The grinder determines grind consistency (uniformly sized particles for clean extraction), grind resolution (fine adjustment to bean profile), burr cooling (no aroma loss due to overheating), and workflow speed.
This mega collection features the complete CCC range of electric espresso grinders – around 30 active models from eleven brands. For more focused selection by grinding logic: Grind by Time, Grind by Weight, Single Dose.

For the cheapest entry without specialty demands: Macap M2E Domus (CHF 389.90) or Macap Leo 55 Essential (CHF 474.95). For specialty entry: Eureka Mignon Specialita 55 (CHF 497.95) or Mahlkönig X54 (CHF 519.90). Both offer solid 50–54mm grind quality for homes with specialty ambitions. For a direct step into the specialty premium class: Eureka Atom Excellence 65 (CHF 998.95) or La Marzocco Pico (CHF 1,159.95).
Similar price class, different brand characteristics. Mignon Specialita 55 (CHF 497.95): Italian classic, darker espresso profile, compact design, quiet motor (Specialita = "special sound," almost a brand characteristic). Mahlkönig X54 (CHF 519.90): German professional manufacture, clear filter suitability, robust design. For an Italian espresso focus: Eureka. For broader filter+espresso suitability: Mahlkönig.
Both in the CHF 700–1,000 class with 60–65mm burrs. Rocket Faustino V2 (CHF 715–789): strong design, Rocket design language, ideal as a grinder for Rocket espresso machines. Eureka Atom Excellence 65 (CHF 998.95): higher grinding speed, professional components, slightly more expensive. For Rocket setup consistency: Faustino. For specialty demands with high daily volume: Atom Excellence 65.
Mignon Specialita 18WD (CHF 527.95–577.95): classic Grind-by-Time. Mignon Libra 65 All Purpose GBW (CHF 827.95): with integrated precision scale (Grind-by-Weight) AND larger 65mm burrs. The extra cost of CHF 250–300 is worthwhile for setups with different beans or frequently changed grind settings. For home with a stable bean: Mignon Specialita is sufficient.
Same Atom Excellence design from Eureka, difference in burr diameter. 65 mm (CHF 998.95): classic Atom class, sufficient for home with specialty demands and moderate volume (4–6 shots daily). 75 mm (CHF 1,298.95): larger burrs for higher daily volume (8–15 shots daily), tonal aroma depth, less heat development per shot. For cafe or home with high volume: 75 mm. For classic specialty home: 65 mm is sufficient.
LUNA (CHF 1,149.95): the accessible Anfim professional design. ALBA (CHF 2,159.95): the premium Anfim class with larger burrs and extended workflow logic. For specialty home with Anfim preference: LUNA is sufficient. For professional demands with uncompromising design: ALBA.
The Bentwood The Vertical 63 (CHF 3,069.95 Black or White) is a US specialty grinder with a vertical engineering approach: burr arrangement and grind output are designed to minimize grind retention and allow the ground coffee to fall cleanly into the portafilter. For specialty collectors and setups with a design studio endgame claim.
US Premium with 83mm conical burrs (CHF 1,319.95). Conical burrs produce different particle characteristics than flat burrs – typically more body and creamier espresso textures, slightly less fruity filter clarity. For espresso-focused setups with specialty demands, a true alternative to classic Italian 64–75mm flat-burr designs.
For specialty workflow: yes. The prosumer class (CHF 850–2,200) offers noticeably: larger burrs (higher aroma depth), better heat control (no aroma loss), durable professional motors (15+ years of home use), more precise grind resolution. For home with classic espresso demands without specialty: home class (50–55 mm burrs) is sufficient. For specialty with light roasts and filter+espresso: prosumer is clearly worthwhile.
Yes, in the showrooms in Bern and Zurich Oerlikon. We will grind with your desired bean and prepare a shot on a suitable espresso machine. You will directly feel the difference between the classes (home, prosumer, professional) as well as between brand characteristics. For premium grinders from CHF 1,500, a dedicated appointment is particularly worthwhile – the engineering details become palpable in direct comparison.
