Prosumer Grind by Time

The Prosumer class bridges the gap between demanding home setups and small café workflows: grinders that deliver specialty quality in daily home use, but remain compact enough for kitchen countertops. This collection bundles the grind-by-time models of the prosumer class – meaning grinders that operate with a fixed grinding time (seconds setting), which are slightly more affordable than their grind-by-weight counterparts (separate grind-by-weight collection).
Coffee Coaching Club carries 5 active professional grinders in this class: Eureka Zenith 65 Neo, Eureka Atom Excellence 75, Mahlkönig E65S, Ceado E37Z-Barista RS and the professional flagship Mahlkönig EK OMNIA. In addition to the grinder range, two CINOART Precision Tampers (Automatic Tamping) are often purchased as a complement to setups of this class.
Professional espresso grinder with 65 mm burrs in the compact Zenith design. For ambitious home users with specialty demands – the smaller footprint class compared to Atom Excellence. Professional grinding quality, compact footprint.
Eureka's established 75 mm burr class. Professional grinding quality with larger burrs compared to Zenith 65 – faster grinding speed, tonal aroma depth, significantly higher daily volume. For demanding home users or small cafés.
Mahlkönig's professional class with 65 mm burrs. CCC is an authorised Swiss partner for Mahlkönig. The E65S is the established professional choice for small to medium-sized cafés and specialty home setups with professional demands.
Italian premium professional grinder with its own engineering approach. High-quality construction, durable grinding mechanism. For specialty cafés or home setups with endgame demands in the grind-by-time class.
Mahlkönig's professional flagship in the EK family. For professional café setups with high volume and specialty demands – the EK series is the established reference in the specialty sector for clear, fruity extraction profiles. The OMNIA variant with extended workflow logic.
Setups with prosumer grinders benefit from automatic tamping consistency – the CINOART Precision range automates tamping pressure and tamping height:
The Cinoart designs produce reproducible tamping without human variation – ideal for café workflows with many extractions or home setups with specialty demands.

Both logic classes have their justification in the prosumer world. Grind-by-Time (here): the grinder grinds for a fixed defined time (e.g., 6.5 seconds), you set the time for 18g. Advantages: more affordable, mechanically simpler, less susceptible to sensor malfunctions. Disadvantages: dosing variation typically ±0.3–0.8g due to bean density and grind size changes.
Grind-by-Weight (see Grind-by-Weight Collection): integrated precision scale, exact gram dosing. Advantages: reproducible dosing accuracy ±0.05–0.1g, ideal for different beans or frequently changed grind settings. Disadvantages: 20–35% higher price compared to GbT of the same brand.
For home users with one type of bean and stable grind size: GbT is sufficient and saves significant money. For home users or cafés with various beans or specialty demands: GbW is worthwhile.

Prosumer = Professional + Consumer. Grinders designed for professional use (grinding quality, motor, durability), but sized for home workflows. This class sits between classic home grinders (CHF 300–800) and café professional grinders (CHF 4,000+).
Zenith 65 Neo (CHF 849.95): compact design, 65 mm burrs, ideal for homes with limited space and 2–4 extractions daily. Atom Excellence 75 (CHF 1,298.95): 75 mm burrs for higher daily volume and tonal aroma depth. The extra cost is worthwhile for homes with 5+ extractions daily or specialty demands with lighter roast levels.
E65S (CHF 2,049.95): the classic professional class for small to medium-sized cafés and ambitious home users. EK OMNIA (CHF 3,349.95): the flagship in the EK family with extended workflow logic. For specialty cafés with high demands or endgame home setups. The EK series has cult status in the specialty sector for clear, fruity extraction profiles.
Italian premium professional grinder with its own engineering approach: high-quality burrs, robust construction, design-strong build. For specialty cafés with design demands or home setups looking for an Italian alternative to Mahlkönig or Eureka.
Grind quality alone is not enough for reproducible espresso – tamping consistency is just as important. Human tamping varies by ±2–3 kg pressure per extraction. The CINOART Precision Tamp standardises tamping pressure to reproducible values. For café workflows with specialty demands or homes that want to get the ultimate level from their professional grinder, it's a useful add-on.
Generally, yes – professional motors run at higher speeds and have larger burrs. However, modern prosumer grinders with sound insulation are significantly quieter than purely café professional designs. For open-plan kitchens, Eureka Zenith and Atom Excellence are perfectly fine. For Mahlkönig E65S and EK OMNIA, a dedicated grinding area is recommended.
For specialty workflows: yes. The prosumer class delivers: (1) significantly better burrs (larger, more durable, more precise), (2) better grind quality (tonal depth, clearer aromas), (3) durable motors (15+ years of home use), (4) professional components (portafilter spout, hopper construction). For homes with standard demands, a 50–55 mm home grinder (CHF 300–600) is sufficient. For specialty: prosumer is clearly worth it.
Yes, in the showrooms in Bern and Zurich Oerlikon. We will grind with your preferred beans and perform the extraction on a suitable espresso machine. You will directly feel the difference between Zenith 65 and Atom Excellence 75, between Eureka and Mahlkönig. For premium grinders from CHF 2,000, a personal appointment is particularly recommended.
