Hopper Design (classic espresso grinder with bean storage hopper on top): Beans are stored permanently, each grind draws from the hopper. Advantages: faster workflow, no individual weighing per shot. Disadvantages: beans age in the hopper (aroma loss after 2–3 days), aroma crossover when changing beans, poorer aroma freshness.
Single-Dose Design: each grind is individually weighed and put into the grinder. Advantages: every bean fresh from the Bean Cellar, no aroma crossover (filter beans in the morning, espresso beans in the afternoon), maximum aroma freshness. Disadvantages: slower workflow, requires: external scale and bean storage.
