Espresso machines with integrated grinder
Buy espresso machines with integrated grinder Switzerland
The espresso machine with integrated grinder is the most compact solution for specialty home setups where space is limited or an elegant single-device setup is desired. Beans are stored in an integrated hopper, and the built-in 38mm conical grinder grinds directly into the portafilter, which is then attached to the brewing group. Workflow: insert cup, press button, espresso.
Coffee Coaching Club carries 2 active models of this type, both from Lelit: the accessible PL 42 EMI Anita and the advanced PL 42 TEMD with PID temperature control.
The models in the cluster
Lelit PL 42 EMI Anita – CHF 739.95

Advantages and disadvantages of integrated solutions
Advantages:
- Compact footprint – one device instead of two (grinder + espresso machine)
- Elegant, tidy workflow on the counter
- Cheaper than a separate setup of the same class
- Direct grind-and-brew workflow without transferring ground coffee
Disadvantages:
- Grinding performance limited to 38mm conical grinder – less flexible and slower grinding speed than a separate 58mm or 64mm grinder
- If one component fails, the entire device is potentially affected
- Upgrade path limited: you cannot replace the grinder separately
- Aroma crossover when changing beans in the hopper storage container
For specialty setups with a demand for aroma variety and bean changes: a separate setup (espresso machine + separate grinder) is usually the better choice. For a classic home with a consistent bean and limited space: an integrated solution makes a lot of sense.
Service in Switzerland
For Lelit, we have service channels through the Italian manufacturer. Free shipping in Switzerland and Liechtenstein from CHF 60. Delivery time 2–4 business days. In the showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich Oerlikon (Hagenholzstrasse 50b), we show the Lelit Anita and TEMD live in use. You can directly feel the difference between the standard design and the PID version – important for setups with specialty demands.
What goes with it
For separate setups (espresso machine + separate grinder) as an alternative: single-boiler espresso machines, heat-exchanger machines in the Lelit class, plus electric espresso grinders. For brand page: Lelit. For cups: cup collection. For milk workflow: barista milk pitchers. For beans from our own roastery: CCC own roasts – Cozy Chocolate, Very Nutty or Creamy Chestnut harmonize particularly well with the Lelit class.
Frequently Asked Questions
Lelit Anita or TEMD?
Anita (CHF 739.95): Standard design without PID, classic brewing logic. Very functional for a classic home with dark roasts. TEMD (CHF 859.95): with PID temperature control. Advantages: more constant brewing temperature (±0.5 °C instead of ±2–3 °C), better aroma reproducibility, ideal for specialty beans with a light roast. The extra cost of CHF 120 is worth it for specialty demands.
Is an integrated solution worth it compared to separate devices?
For limited space (small kitchen, studio, office): yes, definitely. For specialty demands with different beans: no – a separate setup (e.g., Lelit Mara X CHF 1,380 + Eureka Mignon Specialty CHF 580 = CHF 1,960) offers noticeably better grind quality and workflow flexibility. But: for CHF 739–859, the Lelit Anita/TEMD is a remarkably good complete choice.
Which bean suits the Lelit Anita?
For 38mm grinders, classic Italian roasts with a darker profile are suitable. From the CCC range: Cozy Chocolate (Brazil Natural, chocolatey), Very Nutty (India Robusta, nutty), Creamy Chestnut (Vietnam Robusta, velvety), Chestnut Delight (BR + IN Blend, full-bodied), Nutty Delight (80% BR Natural + 20% IN Parchment, nutty-creamy). Light roasts (Wild Peach, Bright Cassis) show their strengths more in setups with larger 58–64mm grinders and better temperature control.
How do I clean the integrated grinder?
Regularly empty the hopper bean container and wipe it with a soft cloth. Run grinder cleaning granules (e.g., ground Cafiza tablets or Urnex Grindz) through the grinder every 4–6 weeks – this removes grinding oils that could clog the grinder. For the brewing group: backflushing with a Cafiza tablet every 2 weeks is recommended.
Aroma crossover when changing beans?
Since the hopper permanently stores beans, when changing beans, residues of the previous bean remain in the grinder and hopper. This is not a problem for setups with a standard bean. For setups that switch between different beans (e.g., Cozy Chocolate in the morning, Wild Peach in the afternoon): an integrated solution is less suitable – a separate setup with a single-dose grinder (see single-dose collection) is significantly superior.
Can I test the integrated solution before buying?
Yes, in the showrooms in Bern and Zurich Oerlikon. We show the Lelit Anita and TEMD live in use, compared to separate setups in a similar price range. This way you can see directly if the integrated design is the right choice for your use case.
