Weber Workshops EG-1 (new generation) – 80mm Flat Burr Coffee Grinder
The grinder starts up, the grounds fall loosely into the Blind Shaker and don't cling to the outlet. After grinding, the motor vibrates briefly and the grinding chamber is empty.
This is the newly designed EG-1 from Weber Workshops, introduced in October 2026. It grinds with 80mm flat burrs and comes with an ioniser in the coffee outlet, Vibe Tone, Intrinsic Alignment and USB-C. Coffee Coaching Club is the official Swiss importer of Weber Workshops: you can buy the EG-1 from us in Switzerland.
What's new about the EG-1?
During grinding, coffee particles rub against each other and against the metal and become electrostatically charged. Charged particles clump, cling to the outlet and create dust when you open the cup. This is exactly where the new EG-1 comes in, and three further innovations join it.
Ioniser
Active ionisation is built directly into the coffee outlet and neutralises the static charge where the grounds leave the grinding chamber. The system sits in the removable grinding chamber lid and switches on automatically as soon as the lid is fitted.
Intrinsic Alignment
The parallelism and concentricity of the burrs result from the mechanical design itself. After cleaning or a burr change, no manual alignment is needed.
Vibe Tone
Precise oscillations generated by the motor loosen coffee that has remained between the teeth of the burrs after grinding. You set frequency and tone via the EG-1's browser interface. The aim is for as much of the weighed dose as possible to end up in the cup.
Integrated Bean Feeder (optional)
After a quick parts swap, the optional Bean Feeder couples magnetically to the grinder and can be fitted or removed in seconds. Its mechanism regulates the flow of beans into the burrs without jamming any beans, and blends almost invisibly into the grinder. You'll find it in our Weber Workshops Collection. If you buy it together with the EG-1, a bundle discount on the feeder is deducted automatically in the cart.
The everyday details
Grinding chamber lid removable without tools
The one-piece grinding chamber lid comes off in seconds without tools. This makes cleaning and burr changes quicker.
Scale calibrated to a zero point
Every grinder ships with a grind scale that is set to a defined zero point at the factory. You can recalibrate it yourself quickly and easily.
Configurable status LED
The LED in the power button shows the grinder's status and operating state at a glance. You set its behaviour and brightness via the EG-1's interface.
Rotating power connector
The power connector swivels between a backward-facing and a downward-facing position. This way the cable suits a classic setup or can be routed out of sight through the worktop.
USB-C
Firmware updates and settings run via the USB-C port, and in an emergency it can even charge your phone. A sliding cover protects the port from coffee dust.
CORE or ULTRA: which burrs?
Particle size and uniformity play a part in how evenly water flows through the coffee and extracts it. Coffee contains over 800 aroma compounds. Which of them make it into the cup also depends on the grind.
Weber ships the EG-1 from the factory with one of two magnetically mounted burr sets. CORE is the all-round set for espresso through to pour-over and Weber's recommendation for most uses. ULTRA is built for filter coffee and focuses on maximum clarity and aroma separation. For espresso and milk drinks, CORE is the right choice.
Why an EG-1?
Nobody needs an EG-1. For the vast majority, a VS3 from Varia grinds an espresso that brings just as much joy, and the VS6 offers more room to play. The EG-1 is a different decision: 13.5 kg of machined tool on the counter, a lid without screws, a routine that's the same every morning. Whoever wants it knows why.
Burr sets are like car engines: subjective, there is no best one. How the EG-1 stands next to the Lagom grinders from Option-O is shown in our comparison Weber EG-1 vs. Lagom P80 vs. Lagom 01. Our opinion is one of many.
No espresso police: we extract by weight, with 1:2 as a starting point, so about 18 g of coffee to 36 g of espresso, and adjust until it tastes good. The bean, the humidity and you yourself are a little different every day, which is why no shot is like another. Espresso is complex, but it isn't rocket science.

Who is the EG-1 for?
For anyone who grinds single dose and switches between beans without grinding a hopper empty. For anyone who makes espresso and filter with one grinder, with CORE, or mostly drinks filter, with ULTRA. Whether you started making espresso yesterday or twenty years ago doesn't matter.
Our advice tool shows which machine and grinder suit you.
What goes with it?
Scales: for anyone who wants to weigh affordably and precisely: Normcore. If you want an app, Bluetooth and a flow-rate display: Acaia.
Puck prep: for anyone who wants WDT that is affordable and precise: the WDT Tool from Normcore. If you want more: the Moonraker from Weber Workshops. The same goes for the puck screen: Normcore or Weber Workshops. For portioned beans there's the Bean Cellar from Weber Workshops.
Machines: in our observation, a saturated group, for example on the Linea Micra or Linea Mini R from La Marzocco, delivers a particularly refined aroma profile. Others see it differently. The advice tool gives you an overview based on your criteria.
Ordering and delivery
You can order the EG-1 directly online. From stock we deliver across Switzerland and to Liechtenstein in 2–4 working days, and Click & Collect is available in Bern and Zurich. Financing is available. Frequently asked questions
What's new about the EG-1 compared with the previous version?
Weber has redesigned the EG-1. New are the ioniser in the coffee outlet, Intrinsic Alignment without manual alignment, Vibe Tone for loosening coffee residue from the burrs, a one-piece grinding chamber lid that comes off without tools, USB-C for firmware and settings, a scale calibrated to a zero point at the factory, a configurable status LED, a rotating power connector and an optional magnetic Bean Feeder.
CORE or ULTRA: which burrs are right for me?
CORE is the all-round set for espresso through to pour-over. ULTRA is built for filter coffee and focuses on maximum clarity and aroma separation. For espresso and milk drinks, CORE is the right choice. Both sets are magnetically mounted, and no manual alignment is needed after a swap.
Does the EG-1 work on the Swiss power grid?
Yes. The EG-1 runs on 90–240 V and is connected with a C13 IEC power cable. An IEC power cable with a Swiss plug fits.
What's included with the EG-1?
The EG-1 in silver or black with the burrs of your choice, a colour-matched Blind Shaker, a solid oak plate that centres the Blind Shaker, two leather pads, an atomiser (RDT), five sets of replacement wipers, a cleaning brush with a rosewood handle and a 1.8 m power cable.
Can I see the product before buying?
Our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) show a wide selection, but not our entire range. Drop us a line at [email protected] before your visit, and we'll check whether the new EG-1 is on site. You can compare several grinders side by side in the Espresso Machine and Grinder Comparison in the Showroom, an option, not a requirement.
Where can I buy the Weber Workshops EG-1 in Switzerland?
At Coffee Coaching Club, the official Swiss importer of Weber Workshops: online with delivery across Switzerland and to Liechtenstein, or with Click & Collect in Bern and Zurich.
Tip from the roastery: As a coffee roastery, we roast dense and full-bodied for the vast majority. Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight bring chocolate and nut to the cup, round and sweet. Very Nutty brings maximum body without acidity. If you'd like to discover something fruity with ULTRA in the filter, you'll find it in Wild Peach. Any other bean you enjoy is just as right. That's our recommendation, one of many.
