Cozy Chocolate – Natural Brazil

Cocoa on the palate, a velvety body that lingers, and a sweetness reminiscent of dark chocolate: that's how the first sip reads. Cozy Chocolate is our naturally processed bean from Brazil – rounded, full-bodied, and made for relaxed enjoyment.

It is roasted in our Swiss coffee roastery, where taste meets the precision of a food chemist and the joy of craftsmanship. Every roast is a dialogue between knowledge and feeling – and every cup carries this story forward.

Origin: Fazenda da Lagoa in Minas Gerais

Cozy Chocolate comes from Fazenda da Lagoa in the Brazilian highlands of Minas Gerais, in the Campo das Vertentes region. Coffee has been cultivated here since 1764 – today at an altitude of 950 to 1155 meters, with varieties such as Obatã, Catuaí, and Yellow Bourbon.

The farm is part of the Neumann Kaffee Gruppe and operates according to the standards of Rainforest Alliance, C.A.F.E. Practices, NKG-Verified, and Regenagri. Protected forest, private springs, and permanent jobs are all part of cultivation here.

Natural processing and what it brings to the cup

In natural processing, the coffee cherry, including its pulp, dries slowly in the sun. The sugar from the fruit migrates into the bean – this is the reason for the full, velvety body and chocolatey depth you taste later.

Heat plays a role in brewing: a higher temperature extracts more body and sweetness, while a slightly lower temperature emphasizes finer nuances. Cozy Chocolate remains forgiving and rounded – a coffee that meets you halfway.

How Cozy Chocolate tastes in the cup

As an espresso, it becomes creamy and round, with cocoa and dark chocolate at the forefront. We extract by weight ratio, 1:2 as a starting point – so from about 18g of ground coffee, about 36g of espresso. From there, you'll find your sweet spot.

In a filter, it appears softer and chocolatey, as a cold brew, cool with a hint of dried fruit. There's no right or wrong – the coffee has to taste good to you, that's all that matters. And because the bean, humidity, and you yourself change daily, no cup tastes exactly like the last. That's the beauty of it.

Who Cozy Chocolate is made for

For everyone who likes dense, aromatic, full-bodied coffee – pure as an espresso or as a rounded base for cappuccino and flat white. If you're looking for chocolate and nut in the profile and like things uncomplicated, you've come to the right place. No prior knowledge is needed; every coffee journey is welcome.

What you need for it

Every bean tastes best freshly ground. For consistent grind size, you'll find affordable and precise options like the Varia VS3 among our coffee grinders, while the Varia VS6 offers more versatility. For hand grinding, check out the Comandante hand grinders.

For brewing, the brewers from the Hario Collection or the AeroPress are suitable – both affordable and versatile; if you're looking for more depth, you'll find the BIRD in the Weber Workshops range. To get the ratio right, a scale helps: compact and precise from the Normcore Collection, with app and flow display from the Acaia Collection.

Where does Cozy Chocolate come from?

From Fazenda da Lagoa in Minas Gerais, Brazil, at an altitude of 950 to 1155 meters. The bean is naturally processed and roasted in our Swiss coffee roastery.

From the roastery: Cozy Chocolate is one of our well-rounded all-rounders. As an espresso, we start at 1:2 and brew it rather warmer, so that body and chocolate are fully present; in a filter, we grind a little coarser for a softer, clearer cup. Together with Nutty Delight and Very Nutty, it forms our body-focused line for the majority – those who like it fruity and bright will find what they're looking for with Wild Peach and Bright Cassis in our coffee beans. This is our recommendation, one of many.
