The Bezzera BZ10 is a compact dual-boiler machine with a heat exchanger and an electrically heated brew group – quick to heat up, quiet in operation, and robustly built. Bezzera manufactures it in Italy from polished stainless steel.
The 1.5-liter copper boiler works with a heat exchanger, allowing you to prepare espresso and milk foam simultaneously without waiting. Instead of the widespread E61 lever group, the BZ10 uses an electrically heated Bezzera brew group with two heating elements controlled by a thermostat. This shortens the heating time to about ten minutes and maintains a stable temperature. The portafilter measures 58 mm, so standard accessories fit. There is no PID installed; the brewing temperature is in the typical range of 94 to 96 °C and can be read from the boiler pressure.
We extract by weight ratio – 1:2 as a starting point, so about 18g of coffee to 36g of espresso – and adjust grind size and quantity until it tastes good to us. There is no right or wrong.
A vibration-dampened vibration pump ensures quiet operation; the brewing pressure is set to approximately 9 bar and can be adjusted via the overpressure valve. The BZ10 is supplied from the 3-liter tank, which automatically shuts off when the level is low – this version does not have a fixed water connection. A double manometer displays boiler and brewing pressure, also giving you a hint about the suitable grind size. A 3-way solenoid valve keeps the puck dry, and you control steam and hot water via toggle levers; the cold-touch steam wand with a two-hole nozzle stays cool on the outside and can be locked upwards.

For those who have little space and still want dual-boiler technology – espresso and milk foam simultaneously, quick to heat up, uncomplicated in daily use. The electrically heated group heats up faster than an E61 and is economical in consumption; for maintenance on this group, a brand-savvy workshop is advisable. If you prefer the classic E61 lever group, you can find alternatives in the Tech Check.
Freshly ground makes all the difference. In the coffee grinders, you'll find affordable and precise options like the Varia VS3 or the Comandante as a hand grinder; the Varia VS6 or the Weber Workshops EG-1 offer more flexibility.
For clean tamping and puck prep, it's worth checking out the Normcore Collection or the Weber Workshops range – everything fits thanks to 58mm. To ensure your 1:2 ratio is spot on, a scale from the Normcore Collection or, with an app, from the Acaia Collection will help.
Our Deep Dive on Heating Systems explains how a dual-boiler differs from a single-boiler and a dual-boiler.

No. The BZ10 uses an electrically heated Bezzera brew group with two heating elements and a thermostat. However, the portafilter measures 58 mm, so common accessories fit. As a dual-boiler with a heat exchanger, it brews and steams simultaneously.
No. The brewing temperature is in the typical range of 94 to 96 °C and is determined by the boiler pressure, which you can read on the double manometer. The brewing pressure is set to approximately 9 bar and can be adjusted via the overpressure valve.
The BZ10 operates exclusively with the removable 3-liter tank, supplied by a quiet vibration pump. It automatically shuts off when the water level is low. This machine does not have a fixed water connection.
Thanks to the electrically heated group, it's ready in about ten minutes. A 3-way solenoid valve keeps the puck dry; backflush daily with the blind basket without detergent and approximately every 50 extractions with detergent. Descale regularly depending on water hardness.

From the roastery: The heat exchanger provides enough steam for milk, and the stable temperature promotes dense, sweet profiles. We recommend Cozy Chocolate, Nutty Delight, and Very Nutty. If you prefer light and fruity, try Wild Peach or Bright Cassis from our coffee beans. This is our recommendation, one of many.
