HOME Grind-by-Weight Grinders Compared: Mazzer Mini G vs. Fiorenzato AllGround Sense vs. Mahlkönig E64 WS vs. Eureka Libra 55 vs. Eureka Libra 65 AP
Grind-by-Weight (GBW) has changed the way espresso is dosed. Instead of grinding by time and then re-weighing, the grinder measures the actual weight and automatically stops at your target dose. Less waste, more consistency, faster workflow.
But which GBW grinder is right for you? We compare five current models – all with integrated scales, all with flat burrs, all Made in Italy (except the Mahlkönig, Made in Germany) – based on verified manufacturer data.

What Makes Each Grinder Special
Mazzer Mini G – Maximum Burr Flexibility with GBW
The Mini G comes from the professional world: 10 kg die-cast aluminum, 350W asynchronous motor, Vibration Filtering Algorithm. Primarily a hopper grinder for espresso (max. 1 kg/day) with ~8g retention in hopper mode.
Its unique selling point: the widest selection of burrs in the entire comparison. In addition to the two official Mazzer sets (233M for body/milk, k202P for sweetness/clarity), the Mini G also accepts SSP 64mm grinding discs. In the CCC range, we carry three SSP sets with Red Speed coating (TiAlCN, approx. 5000 kg lifespan):
SSP 64mm High Uniformity (HU) – Espresso specialist for medium/dark roasts. Maximum body, creamy crema.
SSP 64mm Multipurpose (MP) – unimodal, for espresso + filter. Minimized fines, high clarity.
SSP 64mm Lab Sweet V3 – Sweetness-focused for light roasts and modern espresso recipes.
In total, you have five flavor profiles to choose from (2× Mazzer + 3× SSP) – no other GBW grinder in this comparison offers this flexibility.
Fiorenzato AllGround Sense – The Durable All-Rounder
The most versatile grinder in the field: espresso, moka, and filter in one device, with a color-changing IPS touchscreen. The 64mm Dark-T burrs (M340 steel with Ti/Al/C/N) last up to 1400 kg according to Fiorenzato – five times longer than standard burrs.
Especially practical: tool-free access to the burrs and Zero-Calibration, which maintains the grind setting after cleaning. However: no optional burr sets available – you are limited to the Dark-T geometry.
Mahlkönig E64 WS – The Connected Future Grinder
Mahlkönig's first home grinder with Grind-by-Sync: via Wi-Fi, it connects to compatible espresso machines and automatically adjusts the grind size to the extraction time. Adjustment is electric via DDD (Disc Distance Detection) at a micron level.
With at least 3 g/s espresso output, it's the fastest in the comparison. At under 65 dB, one of the quietest. No burr-change option – but the most advanced digital ecosystem.
Eureka Libra 55 – The Compact Espresso Specialist
Eureka's first GBW grinder: 6.5 kg, 124 mm wide, 55 mm burrs. Clearly designed for espresso – not intended for filter. ACE anti-static and Silent Technology make it whisper-quiet.
The Libra 55 is the right choice for pure espresso drinkers with limited space and a desire for a proven, uncomplicated GBW system.
Eureka Libra 65 AP – The All-Rounder from Florence
The evolution of the Libra 55: larger 65mm blind burrs with All-Purpose geometry, King-Size adjustment knob with Rev Counter (scale 0–20), 320W motor for 1.8–2.5 g/s.
The All-Purpose burr geometry makes the Libra 65 suitable for pour-over, French Press, and Cold Brew for the first time. The Rev Counter remembers your position when changing methods.

☕ CCC Tip – Why GBW is better than Grind-by-Time
Grind-by-Time doses by seconds. But the same grinding time yields different weights as soon as grind size, bean density, or humidity change.
For an 18g dose, a 0.5g deviation is enough to shift the brew ratio by almost 3% – enough to turn a shot from balanced to sour or bitter.
All five grinders eliminate this variable: they measure the actual weight and automatically stop at the target weight. Your espresso tastes good not only today but also exactly the same tomorrow.
