ECM Classika PID – Single-Boiler with Temperature Control

A brewing temperature you set yourself, and a seconds display that watches over your shot: The Classika PID brings control to a sleek single-boiler machine. The clean, chrome-plated design of the Classika series is maintained – by ECM, a German manufacturer based in Bammental near Heidelberg, which produces by hand in Germany and Italy.

Coffee Coaching Club is a partner of ECM in Switzerland. A private barista course can be booked separately. Swiss warranty and after-sales support included.

All Features at a Glance

PID Control

The PID display allows you to set the coffee boiler temperature to the exact degree. During brewing, the same display shows the shot time in seconds – making your shot repeatable.

ECM Brew Group

The highly polished chrome-plated ECM brew group maintains stable heat and ensures a consistent extraction. An adjustable expansion valve allows for fine-tuning of the brewing pressure.

Boiler and Water

The stainless steel boiler holds 0.75 liters and is insulated. The fresh water tank, with approximately 2.8 liters, is easily accessible via the removable cup tray. An automatic water shut-off protects the machine when the tank is empty.

Operation and Construction

A high-performance vibratory pump, height-adjustable feet, and a large drip tray complete the machine.

Who it's for

The Classika PID is suitable if you primarily prepare espresso and occasionally a cappuccino, and want to consciously control the temperature. As a single-boiler, it extracts coffee and steam one after the other – keeping it compact and uncomplicated. A quiet, durable companion for one to two cups at a time.

What goes with it

A consistent coffee grinder is half the battle – for example, from the Eureka series. Plus a suitable tamper and fresh beans like our Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight. Unsure about your choice? Our machine consultation will help.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does single-boiler mean?

One boiler supplies brewing and steam. So you extract sequentially: first the espresso, then – after a short switch-over time – the milk foam. For one to two cups, this is perfectly manageable in everyday life.

How long does it take to heat up?

Allow about 15 minutes for the boiler and brew group to reach the correct temperature.

Can I see it before buying?

Gladly. You can see the Classika PID live in Bern and Zurich Oerlikon. Not every machine is always on site – just ask us, and we'll have it ready.

Roastery Tip

The adjustable boiler temperature is more than just a number: with a slightly higher temperature, you can extract more sweetness and fruit from lighter roasts, and with a slightly lower temperature, you can tame the bitterness of darker roasts. Experiment in small steps and note down what you like. This is our recommendation, one of many.
