On the countertop, on the rim of the basket, on the outside of the basket. You wipe it away, do it again, and in the end, 2 grams are lost, and the counter is dusty. The Olympia Dosing Funnel solves exactly this problem: a stainless steel funnel that sits on top of the portafilter and directs everything the grinder spits out centrally into the 54mm basket. Clean counter, full dose, less frustration.
Freshly ground coffee is statically charged and escapes to all surfaces – without a funnel, that's a law of nature. The funnel intercepts the static scattering and directs the grind directly into the basket. What ends up in the basket is exactly what you dosed. For brew ratio precision (e.g., 1:2 or 1:2.5), this is a real advantage – you have the grams in the basket that you wanted.
Anyone who has ever wiped down a wooden countertop after pulling an espresso shot and found fine coffee dust in every crevice knows why a funnel is more than just convenience. It's cleanliness – especially in setups where the grinder is directly on the workspace.
Stainless steel, precisely manufactured, perfectly fitting for the 54mm Maximatic portafilter. From Schwanden, like the machine itself. No plastic compromises, no mass-produced item.

Even with funnels, we offer three price ranges that cover different needs – all three work, but they differ mainly in craftsmanship, material, and precision of fit.
The Normcore Dosing Funnel is the affordable standard solution. Magnetic or plug-in, stainless steel, significantly cheaper than Olympia or Weber. Functionally, it does its job without any ifs or buts. For anyone who simply wants a clean filling result without a premium surcharge, this is the honest choice.
This funnel here. Precisely manufactured, perfectly fitting the Maximatic portafilter, from Schwanden. For anyone who wants their entire Maximatic setup to be a seamless whole. Aesthetically consistent with the machine, significantly higher quality craftsmanship than the affordable options.
The Weber Workshops Dosing Cup works differently: not a classic funnel that is placed on top, but a cup in which you dose directly into the grinder and then precisely pour into the basket. Anti-static coating, precise geometry, significantly more expensive. For workflows where every brew ratio needs to be reproducibly hit, this is endgame level.
Our opinion: For classic home setups, the Normcore funnel is functionally sufficient in 90% of cases. If you want to keep the Olympia setup consistent, choose this funnel. If you work with Acaia Lunar and Weber tampers and want to hit every brew ratio precisely, you will noticeably benefit from the Weber Dosing Cup.
For Maximatic owners who want clean filling and value Swiss craftsmanship. If you are still experimenting and just want to see if a funnel improves your workflow, you can also do that with the cheaper Normcore tool. But if you know that a funnel is part of your setup and you want a tool for years that matches your Swiss-made machine, this is the right choice.
Original tamper Maximatic 54 mm (red or black) from the Olympia Express Collection. Tamping mat: affordable from the Normcore Collection. Puck Prep Tool 54 mm: Olympia original or Normcore WDT-Tool, premium the Moonraker from the Weber Workshops Collection. For grind quality: Grinder Collection. For precise dosing: Acaia scales.
You take the portafilter out of the machine, place the funnel on top of the basket, put everything under the grinder, and grind directly into it. The funnel catches the grind and directs it into the basket. After grinding, remove the funnel, use a Puck Prep Tool or WDT tool, tamp, brew.
Yes. 54mm is the standard size for many home espresso machines (Maximatic, Breville/Sage, some Saeco models). The funnel fits all portafilters of this size.
Functionally very similar. The Olympia tool is Swiss craftsmanship with a precise fit for the Maximatic basket; the Normcore tool is Asian mass production. Both direct the grind cleanly into the basket. The price difference mainly reflects the place of manufacture and the craftsmanship.
Wash under warm water or in the dishwasher. Stainless steel is heat and dishwasher safe. Static charge of the grind can be reduced by occasionally rinsing the funnel briefly with warm water – this reduces triboelectricity for the next grinding process.

Anyone who makes espresso daily with the Maximatic will benefit more from a funnel than most expect. It's less about the one or two grams of grind that no longer fall next to it – it's about the workflow. The portafilter stands stably under the grinder, the funnel focuses the stream, and after grinding, the counter is clean. This becomes one of those small rituals you eventually can't do without. For the bean, we recommend the Nutty Delight for the Maximatic – the nutty-chocolatey aroma harmonizes wonderfully with the heat exchanger system.
