Kinu M47 Classic – Hand Grinder with 47mm Conical Stainless Steel Burr
You unfold the crank, a few smooth turns, and the grounds fall finely and evenly into the catch cup – entirely without electricity, with the reassuring weight of solid stainless steel in your hand.
The M47 Classic is the full-featured model in the Kinu M47 series: stainless steel hopper and catch cup, a self-centering axle, and a practical thumb stopper. You'll find the entire M47 family here at the Coffee Coaching Club.
Burr and Adjustment
At its core are 47mm conical stainless steel burrs with a Black-Fusion coating – hardened and durable. They cut the beans into uniform particles, the foundation for clean extraction. The stepless, numbered adjustment achieves the grind size finely and reproducibly, from espresso to filter, without fixed click stops.
Solid Stainless Steel in Everyday Use
In the Classic, the bean hopper and catch cup are made of stainless steel – robust and stable. The self-centering axle keeps the burr stable, and the thumb stopper provides a secure grip while cranking. This allows for even, quiet grinding without heat or static charge, unlike some electric grinders.

Frequently Asked Questions
What burrs does the M47 Classic have?
A 47mm conical stainless steel burr with Black-Fusion coating, steplessly and numerically adjustable.
What distinguishes the Classic from Simplicity and Phoenix?
The Classic has a stainless steel hopper and catch cup. The Simplicity uses ABS plastic for these parts, and the Phoenix is the lightest version without a self-centering axle.
Is it suitable for espresso and filter?
Yes. The stepless burr covers the range from fine for espresso to coarse for filter and French Press.
How much coffee does it hold?
The hopper holds about 40 to 50 grams of beans, enough for approximately four servings of espresso or filter coffee.
Can I see the grinder before buying?
Certainly. You can experience the grinder live in our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich Oerlikon (Hagenholzstrasse 50b). Bringing your own beans is welcome.
Roastery Tip
The 47mm conical burr delivers both body and clarity. For a round, chocolatey-nutty espresso, choose Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight; for maximum body without acidity, Very Nutty. If you're looking for a brighter, fruity profile in filter coffee, try Wild Peach – approach it in small steps. This is our recommendation, one of many.
