Buy Outdoor Coffee Machines and Equipment in Switzerland

Real espresso on the mountain, in the RV, in the hotel room, or at the office desk – without power, without a CO2 cartridge, without complicated setup. Since 2013, Wacaco from Hong Kong has defined the portable espresso world: compact, manually operated machines that generate a genuine 8–18 bar pressure, delivering a small but real espresso cup with crema.

Coffee Coaching Club carries 8 active Wacaco models in the outdoor espresso class – from the Barista Kit (CHF 34) for workflow improvement to the Picopresso (CHF 149) as a premium bottomless option. Perfect for travel, outdoor tours, caravan setups, and all situations where a standard espresso machine requires too much power or space.

How the Wacaco System Works

With the Wacaco Picopresso, Nanopresso, and Minipresso, the principle is the same: You heat water separately (e.g., with a kettle or in an outdoor setup with a camping stove), pour it into the machine's water tank, fill the filter basket with ground coffee, close the machine, and operate the manual lever pump. This generates 8 bar (Minipresso) or 18 bar (Nanopresso, Picopresso) and pushes the hot water through the coffee puck – creating a genuine espresso shot.

The entire workflow takes approx. 1–2 minutes per shot. No electricity needed, no CO2 cartridge, no heavy machine.

The Only Relevant Competitor: Flair

In the portable premium segment, Flair Espresso (also available in the CCC range) is an alternative choice with a lever design. Flair machines are larger, heavier, and more expensive than Wacaco, but deliver specialty premium quality in home or semi-portable setups. For true outdoor use (backpack-friendly), Wacaco is clearly superior. For home/hotel/caravan with specialty demands: Flair Espresso is a better fit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Picopresso, Nanopresso, and Minipresso?

Three generations with different demands: Minipresso (CHF 58–77) is the entry-level with 8 bar pressure, light and compact. Nanopresso (CHF 69–96) delivers 18 bar pressure, is the universal variant with significantly higher espresso quality. Picopresso (CHF 149) is the premium variant with bottomless workflow and full specialty Anspruch – the only Wacaco variant with a true bottomless shot.

GR vs. NS – what's the difference?

GR (Ground Coffee): for classic ground espresso, you fill in your own ground coffee. NS (Nespresso): compatible with Nespresso capsules and compatible products. For specialty workflow with your own grinder and beans: GR. For travel setup with capsules (e.g., hotel without a grinder): NS.

How much espresso per Wacaco shot?

Classically approx. 25–30 ml espresso per shot (single shot). With the Barista Kit Nanopresso, bean volume and shot quantity can be adjusted more variably. For double espresso: pump twice, or pull two shots consecutively.

Do I need a grinder for it?

Yes, for the GR variants and the Picopresso, you need freshly ground beans. A hand grinder (Comandante C40, 1Zpresso, Timemore Chestnut C3) is the classic outdoor choice – no electricity, compact, robust. Battery-powered grinder: Nuttii OX LITE (CHF 109) as an electric outdoor variant. For setup comfort and specialty workflow: hand grinder as the standard recommendation.

Which beans for outdoor espresso?

In an outdoor setup with Wacaco, a bean with a strong profile and voluminous crema is worthwhile – Very Nutty (India Robusta, CHF 9.95), Creamy Chestnut (Vietnam Robusta, CHF 9.95) or the blends Chestnut Delight / Nutty Delight. For specialty demands: Wild Peach or Bright Cassis, but these require more precise grinding.

Does it really work well, or is it just marketing?

Real. Wacaco machines have been seriously used by the outdoor and travel community for years. Picopresso and Nanopresso actually generate 18 bar pressure – which is professional espresso pressure, normally only achievable with electric professional machines. The cup is small (25–30 ml), but with crema and full aroma. For travel, hiking, office, it's the honest alternative to Nespresso capsules or bad hotel coffee.

Wacaco vs. Flair Espresso – which is better for outdoor?

Wacaco: clearly outdoor-focused. Small, light, backpack-friendly, fast workflow. CHF 58–149. Flair Espresso: larger, heavier, specialty premium quality. For home/hotel/caravan, but too bulky for a hiking backpack. If you truly want outdoor: Wacaco. If you want the "outdoor" style in a hotel or caravan: Flair Espresso.

Can I test Wacaco machines before buying?

Yes, in the showrooms in Bern and Zurich Oerlikon. We demonstrate the complete outdoor espresso workflow live with your preferred beans. You'll directly experience the feel and crema difference between Minipresso, Nanopresso, and Picopresso.
