What Defines The Force
When tamping, three variables are crucial for consistent extraction: pressure (typically 12–20 kg), evenness (no crooked tamping), and depth (consistent seating in the basket). With a classic, fixed tamper, you have to control all three yourself – experience needed, reproducibility difficult.
The Force is a pressure-adjustable tamper with a built-in spring mechanism. You press until a defined tamping pressure is reached, then the spring gives way with a click – over-tamping is impossible, as is under-tamping. The depth is mechanically limited, and evenness is ensured by the centered design. Reproducibility comes from the tool, not from experience.
Configuration
The Force has a modular design: handle and base can be chosen separately. The standard delivery comes with approx. 10 kg tamping pressure. The Ripple Base (ridged interchangeable base) is an extension that presses a ripple pattern into the puck – this creates more surface area for water-coffee contact at the start of extraction, which can support more even extraction.
