You place the tamper, press down – and feel it give gently the instant the right pressure is reached. No guesswork, no too firm, no too loose. The Force Tamper takes away the one variable that otherwise shifts from day to day: your hand.

That's exactly what tamping is about. An evenly compacted puck lets water flow through the coffee grounds at the same speed everywhere. Where the pressure is uneven, water finds the path of least resistance – and the rest of the extraction gets left out. The Force Tamper's spring-loaded mechanism triggers at a defined pressure and repeats that exact value on every shot.

Out of the box it's set to about 10 kg, and the tamping pressure is adjustable. You choose the handle and base to suit you and your setup – the whole thing is a modular system, not a rigid one-size-fits-all part. Whether that makes the difference for you is your call.
