Why is Arabica called Arabica?

Jun 21, 2023
Arabica coffee, also known as Coffea arabica, got its name because it was originally cultivated in the Arabian Peninsula, specifically in present-day Yemen. The term "arabica" therefore refers to the origin of this type of coffee. It is important to note that although the name suggests Arabia, the plant is originally from Ethiopia. However, it was first commercially grown in Arabia and from there spread around the world.
