An ultra-thin distribution tool that levels the grounds before tamping.
During the shot, the water seeks the easiest path through the puck. If the grounds sit unevenly, it flows faster where they're looser, and the extraction becomes uneven. The distributor spreads the surface evenly before you tamp – so the tamp compresses a level bed instead of crooked mounds.
You simply place it on the basket rim and turn; the flat, low design makes this quick and straightforward. Many combine a WDT tool for deeply breaking up clumps with a distributor for the level surface – both aim at the same even shot. Espresso is a craft, not a law. Our opinion is one of many.
| Type | Distributor / Leveler, ultra-thin |
|---|---|
| Diameter | 51 mm (for 51 mm portafilters) |
| Material | Stainless steel |
| Design | flat, low – levels the surface of the grounds |
| Use | place on, twist, then tamp |
For anyone with a 51 mm machine who wants to distribute their grounds quickly and evenly before tamping. A simple move that makes the shot more consistent – without much effort.
A distributor works together with the tamp. You'll find tampers, WDT tools and puck screens affordably in the Normcore Collection and especially finely crafted in the Weber Workshops Collection; more matching tools are in our Tamper Collection.
And because the best tamp only works with the right machine, it's worth a look at our espresso machines – supported by the advice tool.
The WDT tool uses fine needles to break up clumps deep in the grounds; the distributor smooths the surface. Many use both in sequence for an especially even bed.
No. It prepares the level bed; compression happens afterwards with the tamper.
It's made for common 51 mm portafilters. When in doubt, check the inner diameter of your basket.
Gladly. In our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) you can experience it live. Online we deliver in 2–4 business days, throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein.
An even bed shows especially with full-bodied, sweet roasts. Our Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight taste round and forgive a lot. For maximum body without acidity, the Very Nutty, for a fruity experience the Wild Peach. That's our recommendation – one of many.
