MHW-3BOMBER Cyclone Needle Distributor (Yu Series) – rotating WDT tool 58 mm
The tool sits on the portafilter on its own, and with every press on the handle, the fine needles spin like a small vortex through the grounds. Clumps break apart, the powder settles loosely and evenly – without you having to stir by hand.
A WDT tool that rotates the needles with a press and sits magnetically on the basket.
Why WDT Makes the Difference
Grinding creates small clumps, and where the grounds sit denser, water flows more slowly – where they're looser, it shoots through. This channeling makes extraction uneven. The fine needles reach deep into the grounds, break up the clumps and distribute everything evenly before you tamp.
The Cyclone from the Yu Series works with 14 thin 0.25mm needles spaced around 1.58 millimeters apart. Press the handle and they rotate via a one-way ball bearing – a calm, uniform motion. Ten magnets on the base hold the tool firmly on the basket rim, so nothing shifts while distributing. Made from SUS304 stainless steel, aluminum and silicone, designed for 58mm portafilters. Espresso is a craft, not a law. This is our opinion, one of many.

Who It's For
For anyone with a 58mm machine who wants to loosen up the grounds quickly and evenly. The rotating mechanism and the magnetic hold make the motion especially calm and repeatable.
What Goes With It
A WDT tool works together with a distributor and tamper. Affordable tampers, distributors and puck screens are available in the Normcore Collection and especially finely crafted in the Weber Workshops Collection; more tools are in our Tamper Collection.
And since an even bed only really pays off with the right machine, it's worth a look at our espresso machines – supported by our advisory tool.
Frequently Asked Questions
How Does the Rotation Work?
Press the handle down and the needles rotate through the grounds via a one-way ball bearing. This distributes evenly without stirring by hand.
What Are the Magnets on the Base For?
Ten magnets hold the tool firmly on the basket rim, so it doesn't shift while distributing – this makes the motion calmer and cleaner.
Does the Cyclone Fit My Basket?
This version is made for 58mm portafilters. The needles reach across the surface while the tool sits magnetically on the rim.
Can I See the Tool in Person Before I Buy?
Sure. In our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zürich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) you can experience it live. Online, we deliver in 2–4 business days, Switzerland-wide and to Liechtenstein.
Tip From Our Coffee Roastery
An even distribution really shows in full-bodied, sweet roasts. Our Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight taste round and are very forgiving. For maximum body without any acidity, the Very Nutty, for a fruity experience, the Wild Peach. This is our recommendation – one of many.
