The 53 mm version of the ultra-thin distributor – suited to the 54 mm brew groups of Sage and Breville.
During the shot, the water seeks the easiest path through the puck. If the grounds sit unevenly, it flows faster where they're looser – the extraction becomes uneven. The distributor spreads the surface evenly before you tamp, so the tamp compresses a level bed. On the smaller 54 mm surface in particular, this makes a noticeable difference.
Place on, twist, done – the flat design makes the move quick. Many combine a WDT tool for deeply breaking up clumps with a distributor for the level surface. Espresso is a craft, not a law. Our opinion is one of many.

For anyone with a Sage or Breville machine in the 54 mm format who wants to distribute their grounds evenly before tamping. A simple move for a more consistent shot.
A distributor works together with the tamp. You'll find tampers, WDT tools and puck screens affordably in the Normcore Collection and especially finely crafted in the Weber Workshops Collection; more matching tools are in our Tamper Collection.
And because the best tamp only works with the right machine, it's worth a look at our espresso machines – supported by the advice tool.
The baskets of Sage and Breville measure just under 54 mm on the inside. A distributor of 53 mm turns freely inside and levels the surface right to the edge.
The WDT tool uses fine needles to break up clumps deep in the grounds; the distributor smooths the surface. Many use both in sequence.
No. It prepares the level bed; compression happens afterwards with the tamper.
Gladly. In our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) you can experience it live. Online we deliver in 2–4 business days, throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein.
An even bed shows especially with full-bodied, sweet roasts. Our Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight taste round and forgive a lot. For maximum body without acidity, the Very Nutty, for a fruity experience the Wild Peach. That's our recommendation – one of many.
