The front panel on the display side of the GS3 is the piece of chrome you look at while pulling a shot. It frames the display, holds the control openings and closes off the housing at the front. Because it sits exactly where hands, cloths and portafilter handles pass by, it is the part that shows signs of wear the fastest.
Scratches in the chrome plating cannot be polished out, and dark spots under the surface come back once the coating has been broken through. If the panel is dented, it sticks out at the edge and lets moisture get behind the front. Part number C.1.046, chrome finish.

To replace it, the front of the housing has to be opened. Behind it are the display and the wiring, i.e. live parts. Disconnect the machine from the mains, let it cool down and depressurise it. We deliberately do not give step-by-step instructions here – this work belongs in experienced hands.
For GS3 owners who want their machine to look like it did on the first day, and for workshops that only need to replace the visible panel after transport damage.
From our workshop
Chrome does not forgive abrasive cleaners. In Bern and Zurich we only wipe the fronts with a damp microfibre cloth and dry them straight away, otherwise limescale streaks remain. We bridge the waiting time with an espresso made from Cozy Chocolate. This is our routine, not a manufacturer's specification.
Returns excluded
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured specifically for each order and cannot be resold once they have been installed or test-fitted on a machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a short message and we will clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
No. Only the chrome-plated panel is supplied. The display and electronics behind it remain yours.
The GS3 has two front panels: one on the display side and one on the steam handle side. These are two different parts with different cut-outs. You can find both with us.
It fits the common production years. Because the cut-outs have changed over the years, send us the serial number if in doubt and we will check it beforehand.
Superficial haze, yes, with a mild chrome polish. If the layer has been broken through, the spot comes back – then the only solution is replacement.
Yes. We are in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Bring the serial number of your machine or the old part with you and we will compare them right at the counter.
