The small guard that protects the fork from knocks

The fork guard covers the left side of the fork. It's a simple moulded part that sits at a point where metal would meet metal – and that's exactly what it prevents. It cushions, it protects the surface and it keeps coffee dust out of the gap.

It's worn when it has become thin, shows cracks or no longer sits in place at all. Then there's a quiet rattle with every movement, and pressure marks form on the fork that you can't get rid of later. A part costing just a few francs that prevents more expensive damage. Part number F.2.084.SX.01, left-hand version.

When it's due

  • The guard is torn, has become thin or is missing entirely.
  • A quiet rattle where nothing could be heard before.
  • Pressure marks or chafe marks appear on the fork.
  • The guard is loose and slips.
  • Coffee dust visibly collects in the gap.

Who it's for

For anyone who wants to replace a worn protective part before the fork itself gets damaged, and for workshops that renew both sides at the same time during a service.

Goes well with

From our workshop

In Bern and Zurich we always order protective parts like these in pairs. Once one side is worn through, the other is usually only a few weeks behind, and opening things up twice isn't worth it for four francs. Espresso to go with it: Cozy Chocolate. Our routine, not a manufacturer's requirement.

Returns excluded

Spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold once they have been installed or test-fitted on a machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick line and we'll clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.

Frequently asked questions

Is the right side included?

No. Left and right are two different parts with different part numbers. We've linked the right-hand version.

Which machine does the part belong to?

The item description doesn't make that clear. We don't guess here – send us the serial number and we'll check it.

Can I replace it myself?

That depends on how accessible the spot is. Briefly describe where the guard sits on your machine and we'll tell you honestly whether it's a job for you or for the workshop.

Is replacing it even worth it?

Yes. The part costs just a few francs and prevents pressure marks on a much more expensive component.

Can I see the part in your showroom?

Yes. We're in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Bring the serial number of your machine or the old part, and we'll compare them right at the counter.
