Water flow system
The MANUMENT Leva machine has a manual water flow system that offers the option of determining the desired intensity of water flow to the coffee cake. This means: The mass flow (grams of water per second) can be adjusted to the barista's wishes and the aroma of the respective roast in five opening levels. The result is a completely individual and harmonious taste experience – for both beginners and professional baristas.
Multi-flow water heater system
Manument's newly developed multi-flow water heater system (patent pending) only heats the necessary amount of water for a double espresso shot or for frothing milk. This means that the Manument Leva machine produces the least amount of waste heat, is immediately ready for use and is particularly energy efficient. This also avoids overheating and temperature fluctuations during prolonged use, which occur with classic hand lever machines. The water is set to the brewing temperature set by the barista and is kept constant during heating.
Making espresso with a MANUMENT Leva machine
The Manument Leva machine offers a sensory and playful espresso making experience. With the following steps, this experience can be individualized and tailored to your personal taste or aroma of the roast:
For the best user experience, a default profile is recommended to start with. We recommend that the barista experiment with different opening sequences in order to extract the optimal flavor from the chosen beans.
- By tensioning the Leva lever, two springs are tensioned inside the cylinder. The piston moves upwards and water is sucked out of the tank at the same time.
- As soon as the Leva lever is released at the stop, a pressure of approx. 9 bar acts between the piston and the water flow valve.
- After opening the water flow valve, the water flows through the heater and through the shower into the portafilter, where the empty space above the ground coffee is first flooded.
- When the coffee is saturated with hot water, the counter pressure necessary for extraction is created in the portafilter.
- During the extraction, the piston moves back down and the Leva lever returns to the starting position. The flow can be controlled throughout the extraction using the water flow valve and is visible through the movement of the Leva lever.
