Rocket Giotto Cronometro R – Heat Exchanger Espresso Machine
The lever of the E61 brew group slides up with that familiar click, and as the first espresso pours into the cup, the built-in shot timer counts the seconds. Chromed brass, a calm presence on the counter – the Giotto has been one of the most familiar silhouettes at Rocket for years.
Coffee Coaching Club is Rocket's partner in Switzerland. When you purchase, our private barista course is included (German or English, in Bern or Zurich), in which we introduce you to extraction and the espresso ritual.
All features at a glance
Heat Exchanger with Heat Exchanger
Brewing and steaming simultaneously: The heat exchanger draws the brewing water through the steam boiler, so espresso and milk foam can be made one after the other without waiting.
E61 Brew Group with Pre-Infusion
The thermosiphon-heated E61 group ensures temperature stability and a gentle mechanical pre-infusion, which wets the puck before full pressure is applied.
Shot Timer and PID
The integrated Cronometro measures the extraction time, and the PID control keeps the temperature constant – two values that help you reproduce your shot consistently.
Rotary Pump with Plumb-in Option
The rotary pump operates quietly and can be run either via the tank or a plumbed-in connection.

Who it's for
The Giotto Cronometro R fits into any kitchen where espresso and milk drinks are made frequently and regularly. If you value a plumbed-in connection and a quiet rotary pump, this is the right choice for you. Nobody needs a Giotto – you want one. It's an emotional decision, and that's a good thing.
What goes with it
A machine is only as good as its grinder. For affordable and precise grinding, choose a Varia from our Varia Collection; if you want more, check out the Eureka coffee grinders or the Weber Workshops grinders. For clean puck prep, you'll find tampers and distributors in our Tamper Collection. A Normcore scale or an Acaia scale will help with dosing by weight. Unsure about your choice? Our machine comparison can help.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Cronometro R and V?
The R has a rotary pump and can be connected to a plumbed-in water supply, while the V works with a vibratory pump and only uses the tank. Technically, both brew identically.
How long does the machine take to heat up?
As a heat exchanger with an E61 group, you can expect around 20 minutes until the group is thermally warmed through and the shot runs stably.
Can I see the machine before buying?
Yes, you can see it live in our showrooms in Bern and Zurich. Delivery throughout Switzerland and Liechtenstein in 2–4 working days, Click and Collect available. Financing via Heylight possible.
Roastery Tip
A heat exchanger with an E61 likes dense, round beans. Our Cozy Chocolate and the Nutty Delight work well with milk and on their own. This is our recommendation, one of many.
