La Marzocco Shower Screen – Original Screen for the Group Head
Before the coffee even happens, the water has to spread out – across the whole surface of the puck, evenly, without favouring a single channel. This exact moment is shaped by a small metal screen, one you only notice when the espresso suddenly tastes different than usual.
At La Marzocco, this screen sits in the saturated group head – a design that, in our experience, delivers a finer, rounder aroma profile than an E61 group, regardless of the heating system behind it. That's our observation from daily use with both systems, others see it differently. The shower screen is the last stop before the water touches the coffee: if limescale settles in the fine openings or the screen warps over time, distribution becomes uneven – some spots in the puck get more water than others, and that's exactly what you taste.

Who it's for
For anyone with a La Marzocco machine whose shower screen is visibly scaled, warped or damaged – or whose water stream has noticeably changed during the shot. Since the design varies by model, we're happy to confirm the fit before purchase based on your machine model.
What pairs with it
Regular backflushing keeps the shower screen clean for longer – the matching cleaning products for machine and group head are found in our range. For the puck itself, take a look at our Tampers – compact and reliable with Normcore, or with more presence on the counter with Weber Workshops. More spare parts and accessories for your machine are found in our La Marzocco Collection.
Frequently Asked Questions
When should I replace the shower screen?
When the water stream becomes uneven, visible limescale clogs the openings, or the screen is warped or damaged. A clean, intact shower screen ensures even distribution across the whole puck.
Does this shower screen fit my machine?
The design differs depending on the La Marzocco model. Tell us your machine model, and we'll confirm the fit before purchase.
How often should I clean the group head?
Daily without cleaning agent and roughly every 50 shots with cleaning agent – about five minutes that keep the shower screen and the whole group head noticeably cleaner for longer.
What's special about La Marzocco's saturated group head?
It keeps the temperature at the group head more constant than more open systems and, in our experience, delivers a more refined aroma profile. An observation from our daily use with different systems – other roasters and baristas certainly see it differently.
Can I replace it myself?
Usually yes – the shower screen is held by a central screw and can be swapped with little tooling. If in doubt, we're happy to help.
Can I see the product before buying?
Yes, in our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) you can experience the original spare part live.
The roastery tip
A group head that distributes water evenly deserves a coffee that shows that precision too. Our main recommendation: Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight, dense, aromatic, with plenty of body. For maximum body with no acidity at all: Very Nutty. For anyone who wants to discover a fruity experience: Wild Peach, lively and always a discovery. Our recommendation from the roastery, one of many.
