Normcore Tamper and Distributor Leveler 58.5 mm
First one side: a few calm turns, and the coffee grounds settle level in the basket. Then you flip the tool, press, and the puck compresses evenly. Two moves, one tool – the bed is ready before the water arrives.
A 2-in-1 tool that combines distributing and tamping in a single body.
What makes this distributor and tamper special
Evenly distributed, level coffee grounds are the first step toward a calm extraction. The distributor side levels the surface before the tamper side compresses the puck. Both sides are height-adjustable, so you can match the depth to your dose – the distributor side up to 12 mm, the tamper side up to 14 mm.
The tool is made from anodized aluminum and stainless steel and fits the common 58 mm portafilters, including VST and IMS precision baskets. What matters is a well-filled basket: only then does the distributor side reach the coffee grounds cleanly. Whether you prefer a 2-in-1 tool or separate tools comes down to taste, and that's just our view, one of many.

Frequently asked questions about the Normcore Distributor and Tamper
How does the 2-in-1 tool work?
Start with the distributor side, then flip the tool and tamp.
What's the height adjustment for?
It matches the depth to your dose – the distributor side up to 12 mm, the tamper side up to 14 mm. This way the tool fits well with different bean amounts.
Does it fit my machine?
It fits the common 58 mm portafilters of most espresso machines, including VST and IMS precision baskets. What matters is a well-filled basket, so the distributor side reaches the coffee grounds.
Can I see the tool before buying?
Yes, in our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zürich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b). Ordering online is the primary way, with delivery across Switzerland and to Liechtenstein in 2 to 4 working days.
Roastery tip
An even bed before tamping helps every bean. For a dense, sweet espresso, we like to reach for Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight. If you like it full and round without any acidity, stick with Very Nutty; for a fruity experience, Wild Peach goes into the grinder. That's our recommendation, one of many, and every bean that tastes good to you is the right one.
