The chrome-plated trim panel on the steam side of the GS3
The chrome-plated front panel on the steam handle side is the standard version of the GS3. It holds the cut-out for the steam lever and closes off the housing on this side. Because milk is frothed right next to it, it is the part of the machine that sees a cloth most often.
Chrome can take a lot, but not everything. Lactic acid and harsh cleaners attack the layer over time, leaving dull spots that come back after polishing. And where the lever has worked for years, the cut-out becomes wider. Part number C.1.043.
When it is due
- Dull or stained areas in the chrome plating around the steam area.
- Deep scratches from milk jug or cloth edges.
- The cut-out around the lever is worn and the steam handle wobbles.
- The panel is dented and sticks out at one corner.
- Dark blisters under the chrome layer.

Important for installation
To replace it, the front is opened, and behind it lie the steam area and the wiring. Disconnect the machine from the mains, let it cool down completely and depressurise it. We deliberately do not give step-by-step instructions here.
Who it is for
For anyone with a classic chrome GS3 who wants to replace a damaged or worn steam-side trim panel.
Goes well with
From our workshop
In Bern and Zurich we froth with the milk jug as far away from the trim panel as possible and wipe it with a damp cloth straight after brewing. It sounds trivial, but it measurably extends the life of the chrome plating. Then a flat white made with Very Nutty. Our routine, not a manufacturer specification.
Returns excluded
Spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured specifically for each order and cannot be resold once they have been installed or test-fitted on the machine. So please check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine before ordering – or drop us a line and we will check the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
Frequently asked questions
Is the steam handle included?
No. Only the chrome-plated trim panel is supplied.
Why is the chrome version cheaper than black and white?
Chrome is the standard version and is produced in larger quantities. We pass the difference on exactly as it reaches us.
My steam lever has play. Will the new panel help?
If the cut-out is worn, yes. If the valve itself is worn, the play will remain. Write to us about what you are noticing and we will narrow it down.
Can I polish off a limescale film?
Light films, yes, with a mild chrome polish. If the layer is broken through, only a replacement will help.
Can I see the part in your showroom?
Yes. We are in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Bring the serial number of your machine or the old part with you and we will compare them right at the counter.
