Rocket EPICA – Dual Boiler with Pressure Profiling Lever

Your hand settles onto the lever, a gentle pull, and the pressure builds exactly the way you want to guide it: a soft pre-infusion first, then the full build. The EPICA combines the mechanical feel of a lever with the stability of a modern dual boiler machine – modern nostalgia on the counter.

Coffee Coaching Club is a partner of Rocket in Switzerland. Every purchase includes our private barista course (in German or English, in Bern or Zürich), where we introduce you to extraction, pressure profiling and the espresso ritual.

All Features at a Glance

Saturated Group Head

The saturated 1.9-litre group head is coupled directly to the brew boiler. In our experience, a saturated group delivers a particularly calm, refined aromatic picture – that's our observation, others see it differently.

Pressure Profiling via the Lever

The classic lever controls pre-infusion and brew pressure and interacts directly with the pump. It lets you shape the aromatic window by hand, because different compounds release at different pressures and different points in time.

Dual Boiler with PID

Separate boilers for brewing and steaming, PID-controlled, with a digital touch front display.

Permanent Magnet Pump, Tank or Plumbed-In

Quiet operation via the permanent magnet pump, with the choice of tank or direct water connection.

Who It's For

Nobody needs the EPICA to make good espresso – a simpler setup has long been enough for that. The EPICA makes a different statement. It's for anyone who's after the moment at the lever, who wants to guide the pressure profile by hand, and who wants the presence of a saturated group on the counter. An emotional decision, and one we respect – whoever wants it knows why.

What Goes With It

A machine in this class calls for an equally precise grinder from the Eureka coffee grinders or the Weber Workshops grinders; a more affordable way in is via the Varia Collection. Tampers and distributors in the Tamper Collection, scales at Acaia or Normcore. To help you decide, take a look at the machine comparison.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does pressure profiling via the lever mean?

The lever controls the brew pressure directly via the pump. Starting with low pressure (pre-infusion) and then guiding it up is how you influence which aromas get extracted, and when.

What sets the EPICA apart from an E61 machine?

The EPICA has a saturated group head instead of the E61 group and allows manual pressure profiling via the lever. That gives you more control and, in our experience, a more refined aromatic picture.

Can I see the machine before buying?

Yes, in our showrooms in Bern and Zürich. For this machine, we recommend picking it up in person. Delivery throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein in 2–4 business days, financing available via Heylight.

Roastery Tip

At the lever, playing with pressure is a joy. Our Cozy Chocolate shows a dense chocolate note with a gentle pre-infusion; if you like to experiment with something fruity, try the Wild Peach. That's our recommendation, one of many.
