The small knob that gives the steam tap a good grip again

On the steam valve, you only touch a single part during service: the knob. It sits on the valve spindle, takes every movement of your hand and, over the years, is exposed to heat, milk splashes and cleaning agents. At some point you can see it – and at some point you can feel it too.

This knob with the M20 × 1,5 thread belongs to the LCS series and carries the part number F.1.208. It is an inexpensive wear part – and one of the few you can replace yourself without a visit to the workshop, because it is accessible from the outside.

When it is due

A knob on the steam valve rarely fails suddenly. Over weeks it becomes more unpleasant until you no longer like touching it.

  • The knob spins on the spindle instead of turning the valve.
  • Cracks, chipped edges or a rough, dull surface.
  • It no longer sits firmly and wobbles in your hand.
  • Milk residue settles in cracks and can no longer be wiped away.

Who it is for

For anyone who keeps their machine in shape themselves and wants to replace a worn knob without touching the whole valve. Also useful as a part to keep in stock: the price is small, the trouble with a broken knob in the middle of service is big.

What goes with it

From our workshop
In Bern and Zurich, we wipe steam taps after every milk drink with a separate, damp cloth – not with the cloth for the work surface. That is our routine, not a manufacturer's specification, but it keeps knobs and wands clean for years. Our grinder is usually running Nutty Delight, because it still holds its own in a cappuccino even when the milk has turned out a little warmer. More of it in our coffee beans.

Returns excluded
Spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured to order and cannot be resold after being installed or test-fitted on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we will clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.

Frequently asked questions

Does the knob fit every La Marzocco?

No. It is intended for the LCS series with the M20 × 1,5 thread. Other series have other knobs. Send us the serial number and we will quickly check.

Can I replace the knob myself?

Yes. It sits on the valve spindle from the outside and is not in a pressurised line. Let the machine cool down first.

Is the cap or the cover included?

No, one knob is supplied. The cover is a separate part and available separately from us.

How does it differ from the steam valve knob F.1.295?

These are two different parts of the same series. The serial number tells us which one is fitted to your machine – better to ask once than to order twice.

Can I pick up the part at your showroom?

Yes. We have two showrooms: Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Drop us a line with the part you need, and we will have it ready and look at it together on your machine.

Not sure whether this part fits your machine? Write to us with the model and serial number at [email protected] and we will check it for you. We deliver across Switzerland and to Liechtenstein in 2-4 working days.
