The diffuser distributes the water before it reaches the coffee. When it works cleanly, the brewing pressure arrives evenly across the whole surface. When it is clogged, the water takes the path of least resistance – and that is exactly what you see in the portafilter as a crater or a pale spot.
This diffuser belongs to the Linea Micra and carries part number A.7.025. It is one of those parts where thorough descaling is almost always worth trying first – and replacement only after that.
Before you order a new part: in the vast majority of cases, it is not the component that is worn out, but limescale sitting in the fine holes. Thorough descaling and a backflush often bring back the original flow completely. You will find everything you need for this in our Machine and grinder cleaning range. Replacement is only worthwhile if the holes cannot be cleared even after descaling, or if the part is visibly damaged.
After descaling, the diffuser is still suspect if any of the following applies:
| Type | Diffuser in the brew group |
|---|---|
| Installation location | In the brew group, above the shower screen |
| Fits | La Marzocco Linea Micra |
| Scope of delivery | One diffuser |
| Part number | A.7.025 |
| Version | Original version |
| Installation | Fitting by a qualified professional recommended |
| Brand | La Marzocco |
The diffuser sits inside the brew group, i.e. in a pressurised area. We deliberately do not publish step-by-step instructions for this. There is a dedicated service tool for removal and installation; without it, you can easily damage more than you repair. Have the replacement done by a qualified professional – or bring the machine to us.
For Micra owners whose extraction remains uneven despite clean grounds and a fresh group head gasket, and for service technicians during a major service.
From our workshop
Before we replace a diffuser in Bern or Zurich, we descale the machine and backflush the group – in most cases, the extraction is even again afterwards. That is our fixed sequence, not a manufacturer requirement. To cross-check, we use a bean we know inside out, usually Nutty Delight.
Returns excluded
Service parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or test fitting on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick message and we will work out the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
No. We stock the diffuser gasket as a separate part – it should be replaced at the same time.
We list it as a Linea Micra part. There is a separate item for the Mini R – send us the serial number and we will tell you which one you need.
We do not recommend it. It sits in the pressurised part of the group, and removal requires a dedicated tool.
Very often, yes. Limescale in the fine channels is the most common cause of uneven flow – which is why, for us, descaling always comes before any replacement.
Yes. We have two showrooms: Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Drop us a quick message saying which part you need, and we will have it ready and look at it together on your machine.
