The small part that keeps the steam knob straight

The spacer sleeve sits between the front panel and the steam knob and keeps the knob at the right distance from the machine. It also guides it neatly along its axis so that it turns easily and does not rub against the panel. A part nobody notices as long as it is there.

If it is missing or worn, the knob wobbles, sits crooked or drags against the panel when turned. Because the sleeve falls out every time the steam valve is removed, it easily gets lost in the workshop. Part number F.1.181 belongs to the steam knob of the GB5 X/S and the KB90.

When it's due

  • The steam knob has play and wobbles in the panel.
  • The knob rubs against the front panel when turned.
  • There is an uneven gap between the knob and the housing.
  • The sleeve is missing after a service on the steam valve.

Who it's for

For workshops and businesses working on the steam valve of a GB5 X/S or KB90 that want to order the small part at the same time. Also useful as a replacement when, after years, the knob no longer sits properly in line.

What goes with it

From our workshop

With every steam valve service in Bern and Zurich, we first lay the small parts out on a light-coloured cloth – sleeve, cap, screws. That is our own habit, not a manufacturer requirement, but it saves searching the floor every time. And since a service like this takes a while anyway: the espresso afterwards tastes especially bold with Very Nutty, and you'll find all the others under our coffee beans.

Returns excluded

Service parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or a test fit on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick message and we'll check the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.

Frequently asked questions

Is the steam knob included?

No. Only the spacer sleeve is supplied. We stock the knob and the cap separately.

Does the sleeve also fit older GB5 machines?

Number F.1.181 belongs to the GB5 X/S and the KB90. For older series, send us the serial number and we'll check the fit.

Do I need tools for it?

To replace it, the steam knob has to be removed. This is easier when the machine is cold and switched off.

Why is the sleeve needed at all?

It keeps the distance from the panel and guides the knob. Without it, the knob wobbles and rubs against the panel.

Can I see the part in the showroom?

Yes. In Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b.
