The black front of the GS3, flawless again
This front panel sits on the display side of the GS3 and is the black version of the same trim panel that is also available in chrome. It frames the display, closes off the housing at the front and is the part you look at most during operation – and the one that takes the most knocks.
On the black version every scratch stands out twice as much, because the bright metal underneath shows through. Faded spots caused by aggressive cleaners are also visible straight away. Once the coating is worn through, polishing no longer helps. Part number C.1.046.60.
When it is due
- Bright scratches where the metal shows through beneath the coating.
- Faded or dull areas after harsh cleaners.
- Chipped coating on the edges.
- The panel is dented and sticks out at the edge.
- The cut-out around the display is broken off.

Important for installation
To replace it, the front of the housing is opened; the display and wiring sit behind it. Disconnect the machine from the mains, let it cool down and depressurise it. We deliberately do not provide step-by-step instructions here, because mains voltage is present right next to it.

What goes with it
From our workshop
In Bern and Zurich we clean black fronts only with water and a soft cloth. Descaler, oven cleaner or anything with abrasive particles attacks the coating and leaves grey streaks that stay. Meanwhile we pull an espresso from Very Nutty. Our routine, not a manufacturer specification.
Returns excluded
Spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or a test fit on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick line and we will clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the black panel cost more than the chrome-plated one?
The coloured version is more complex to manufacture and is produced in smaller quantities. We pass the difference on exactly as it reaches us.
Can I use it to convert my chrome GS3 to black?
The front, yes. For a consistent look you also need the second front panel on the steam knob side and, if you wish, the rear panel. Write to us and we will put the list together for you.
Is the display included?
No. Only the trim panel is supplied.
Can scratches be repaired?
Not permanently if the coating is worn through. Touch-up pens cover them for a while, but rarely last long in this spot.
Can I see the part in your showroom?
Yes. We are in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Bring the serial number of your machine or the old part, and we will compare them right at the counter.
