Small, white and important exactly where things get hot

PTFE gaskets sit in the places where rubber would not stand a chance: at steam temperature, constantly switching between hot and cold. They last a long time – but once they have been compressed, they do not spring back.

This gasket measures 10 × 2.5 millimetres and has the part number L169/A1. It is a typical part that you have ready in several units at once when servicing.

When it is due

Replace the gasket if any of the following applies:

  • Water or steam is escaping at the threaded fitting.
  • The old gasket is flattened or notched.
  • The connection has already been opened – in that case, the gasket should always be replaced.
  • The spot still becomes damp again after retightening.

Important for installation

This gasket sits in a pressurised connection. We deliberately do not provide step-by-step instructions for it. Have the replacement done by a qualified professional who depressurises the machine and then checks the threaded fitting for leaks.

Who it is for

For workshops and service technicians who want to have the right gasket at hand as soon as they open a threaded fitting.

What goes with it

From our workshop
With every service, we note which gasket was fitted where – next time, that saves half an hour of searching. This is our own way of working in Bern and Zurich, not a manufacturer requirement. For the coffee on the side, we like to pull shots of Nutty Delight; you will find more beans in our Coffee beans.

Returns excluded
Service parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or test fitting on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick message and we will work out the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference compared with a rubber gasket?

PTFE withstands considerably higher temperatures and remains chemically stable. On the other hand, it is less elastic and must not be overtightened.

Will it fit my machine?

That depends on the threaded fitting. Send us the model and serial number and we will check.

How many should I order?

If you open a connection, you need one per point. Many businesses keep a few in stock.

Can I reuse the old one?

No. PTFE deforms permanently, so a used gasket no longer seals reliably.

Can I collect the part from your showroom?

Yes. We have two showrooms: Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Drop us a quick message saying which part you need, and we will have it ready and look at it together on your machine.

Not sure whether this part fits your machine? Write to us with the model and serial number at [email protected] and we will check it for you. We deliver across Switzerland and to Liechtenstein in 2-4 working days.
