Olympia Express Piston Rod Mina – Component of the Lever Mechanism

The original piston rod of the Mina – connects the fork with the piston and transfers the lever force to the coffee puck. Precisely manufactured from durable material, original part from the Schwanden factory. If there is visible wear or bending, this is the direct Olympia solution.

What makes this piston rod stand out

Power Transmission in the Mina Mechanism

The rod is the connecting element between the lever fork and the piston. When pressed down, it transfers the hand force to the piston, which in turn presses the water through the puck. A precisely manufactured rod is a prerequisite for clean pressure build-up without jamming.

Wear Part in the Mina System

With frequent and intensive travel use, the piston rod can develop signs of wear – visible as play between the lever and the piston or uneven pressure build-up. A replacement restores the original lever feeling to the Mina.

Who this rod is for

For Mina owners with a worn or bent piston rod. Also useful for a second-hand Mina where the lever mechanism no longer feels original.

Accessories that fit the Mina service

Complete Mina fork as a complementary service part: in our Olympia Express Collection. Mina seal kit: also there. Mina piston rod screw as a small fastening part: same collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I replace the piston rod?

In case of visible bending, play between the lever and the piston, or uneven pressure build-up. With normal use, the rod lasts for many years.

Do I need tools for installation?

Yes – suitable screwdriver and possibly the replacement Mina piston rod screw (200164). The Mina is designed for easy service; doable with prior experience.

Where can I buy the piston rod or see it live?

Online via coffeecoachingclub.ch. On-site in our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44, 3011 Bern) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b, 8050 Zurich).

Roaster's Tip

During a Mina overhaul, the piston rod should be part of the inspection check – if there's play in the lever, it's often the reason. One of those inconspicuous parts that make all the difference in everyday use. Our opinion, one of many.
