Slim, eye-catching and adaptable: the PRO 400 is a compact heat exchanger machine whose look you can change in moments with coloured valve plates. Three PID-controlled temperatures and switchable pre-infusion give you room to shape the shot – from Profitec, a German manufacturer based in Bammental near Heidelberg, handmade in Germany and Italy.
Coffee Coaching Club is a partner of Profitec in Switzerland. With every new coffee machine from CHF 1'500, a private barista introduction course of around 60 minutes is included – in Bern, Zurich or online, for up to two people from the same household or company attending together. The course must take place within one month of delivery; after that, the entitlement expires. Get in touch with us for the course and we'll find a date together.
The E61 group head with stainless steel bell keeps the temperature stable. As a heat exchanger machine, it lets you pull a shot and steam milk at the same time.
A multi-function switch on the underside lets you choose between three PID-controlled temperatures and switch pre-infusion and ECO mode on or off.
The dual gauge keeps boiler and pump pressure in view. The adjustable expansion valve lets you set the brew pressure yourself.
Valve plates in different colours are included, so you can adjust the look. Stainless steel boiler with 1.6 litres, water tank with around 2.8 litres, only 228 mm wide.

For everyone who wants a compact E61 heat exchanger machine and enjoys shaping the look of the machine themselves. If you regularly make milk drinks and like fine-tuning temperature and pressure, you'll find plenty of room here on a small footprint.
A consistent coffee grinder like those from the Eureka lineup, a tamper and fresh beans like Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight. More in the Profitec collection.
A heat exchanger machine uses one boiler with a heat exchanger for brewing and steam at the same time. A dual boiler has two separate boilers. With a heat exchanger machine, you can also pull a shot and steam milk at the same time.
Yes. The included coloured valve plates can be swapped without tools.
Plan for around 20 minutes so the E61 group head is stable at temperature.
That depends on whether the PRO 400 is on display right now. Our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich Oerlikon (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) show a wide selection, but not our entire range – it is too large for that, and the display changes. Drop us a quick line at [email protected] before your visit, and we will check whether the PRO 400 is currently there.
Use the three temperature settings to match the machine to your bean, and play with pre-infusion: a brief pre-wetting of the puck evens out small irregularities and makes the shot calmer. That's our recommendation, one of many.
