MHW-3BOMBER Castle Needle Distributor – WDT needle distributor for even extraction
Freshly ground coffee sits in the basket full of tiny clumps, stuck together by static charge. You guide the fine needles in, a few calm movements, and the clumps break apart. What's left is a loose, even bed – the foundation for a clean shot.
A WDT tool that loosens and distributes the grounds before you tamp.
Why WDT makes the difference
Grinding creates small clumps, and where the grounds sit denser, water flows slower – where it's looser, it rushes through. This channeling makes the extraction uneven. With the fine needles of the Weiss Distribution Technique, you reach deep into the grounds, break up the clumps and distribute everything evenly before you tamp.
The Castle is a needle distributor made exactly for this step: needles in, a few turns, and the bed sits loose and level. Tamping and the shot build on that. Espresso is a craft, not a rule – an even bed just makes it more repeatable. Our opinion is one of many.

Who it's for
For anyone who wants to evenly loosen their grounds before tamping and prevent channeling. We're happy to show you the exact specs in person – in the showroom or on request by email.
What pairs with it
A WDT tool works together with a distributor and tamper. You'll find tampers, distributors and Puck Screens affordably in the Normcore Collection and finished with extra care in the Weber Workshops Collection; more tools are in our Tamper Collection.
And since an even bed only shows its worth with the right machine, it's worth a look at our espresso machines – supported by the advisory tool.
Frequently asked questions
What does WDT stand for?
For Weiss Distribution Technique: with fine needles you break up clumps in the grounds and distribute them evenly before you tamp. This prevents channeling and makes the extraction more even.
Does the needle distributor replace the tamper?
No. It loosens and distributes the grounds; compression happens afterwards with the tamper. Many people combine both for an especially level bed.
Where can I see the exact specs?
Best in person: in our showrooms you can hold the tool in your hands. We're also happy to answer detail questions by email.
Can I see the tool in person before buying?
Very much so. In our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) you can experience it live. Online we deliver in 2–4 business days, across Switzerland and to Liechtenstein.
Tip from our roastery
An even distribution shows itself especially with rich, sweet roasts. Our Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight taste well-rounded and forgive a lot. For maximum body without acidity, the Very Nutty, and for a fruity experience, the Wild Peach. That's our recommendation – one of many.
