Weber Workshops Unifilter – Unibody Portafilter for 58mm
The shot is pulled, you remove the portafilter from the group and turn it over – a single-cast body, warm, heavy, seamless. No removable basket, no groove where oil and coffee residue can hide. You hold it under the tap, wipe it once, and it's done. The next morning, it looks like new.
The Weber Workshops Unifilter is the world's first unibody portafilter: portafilter and basket are a single piece, forged, milled and hand-polished from 304 stainless steel. No insert that comes loose, no gaps that clog. Coffee Coaching Club is the exclusive Swiss importer of Weber Workshops and offers the Unifilter with an FKM rubber or teak handle.
What makes the Unifilter special
A conventional portafilter consists of two parts: the handle and an inserted, deep-drawn basket. Due to manufacturing, this basket has slightly slanted walls, and the perforations end before the rim – often only about 48 mm are usable. With the Unifilter, everything is one: vertical inner walls, holes individually laser-cut right up to the edge, a true 58.5mm puck from top to bottom.
Because the basket is not removable, there are no hidden corners – rinse, wipe, done. No scrubbing, no soaking in aggressive cleaners. And the continuous metal mass brings a little more thermal stability to the brewing. That's the idea behind it.

Rubber or Teak
Functionally, there is no difference – both handles have the same stainless steel core. The FKM rubber handle is grippy, robust and easy to clean. The teak handle is hollowed-out solid wood, treated with a German VOC-free oil; it feels warmer and develops a patina over the years like good furniture. You decide which one fits by feel, not by function.
Compatibility
The Unifilter fits standard 58mm machines with exposed group heads – such as La Marzocco, Slayer, Synesso, Kees van der Westen, Rocket and classic E61 groups. It is not compatible with Decent and Flair 58, or similar machines with thick or concealed group heads, nor with Breville/Sage, Gaggia and other proprietary non-E61 groups. If you have one of these machines, instead use BUCK and Unibasket. The Unifilter fits Victoria Arduino, La Marzocco Micra and the new Mini R, but locks in significantly to the right of the center.
What goes with it
If you have an incompatible machine or prefer to change the basket individually, combine BUCK and Unibasket from the same collection. For even distribution beforehand, use the Moonraker or a Normcore WDT tool, and for consistent grind size, a grinder from our grinder selection. Consistent dosing can be achieved with an Acaia or a Normcore scale.
Order directly online
The Unifilter is available directly in the webshop, with a rubber or teak handle. Delivery throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein in 2 to 4 working days. Click and Collect in Bern, Gerberngasse 44 and Zurich, Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Unsure about compatibility? Contact us during business hours, we will check your machine and group head in advance.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference to a normal portafilter?
With the Unifilter, the portafilter and basket are a single piece. There is no removable basket, no gaps where coffee oils can accumulate. The vertical walls and perforations right up to the edge result in a true 58.5mm puck, and cleaning is limited to rinsing and wiping.
What dose is the Unifilter made for?
For 18 to 22 g, around 20 g for medium roasts is a good guideline. The range can be shifted slightly with or without a puck screen.
Does the Unifilter fit my machine?
On most 58mm machines with exposed group heads: La Marzocco, Slayer, Synesso, Kees van der Westen, Rocket and classic E61 groups. It fits Victoria Arduino, La Marzocco Micra and the new Mini R, but locks in to the right of the center.
Does the Unifilter fit Decent or the Flair 58?
No. These machines have thicker or concealed group heads, as do Breville/Sage and Gaggia. The combination of Weber BUCK and Unibasket is designed for these.
How do I clean the Unifilter?
Rinse under water and wipe after use. Since there is no removable basket, nothing collects in hidden corners. Occasionally, a coffee-specific cleaner is sufficient; aggressive soaking is not necessary.
Rubber or Teak – which should I choose?
Functionally identical. FKM rubber is robust and easy to clean, teak feels warmer and develops a patina over time. It's a matter of feeling.
Roaster's Tip
A portafilter that doesn't clog keeps your taste stable for weeks – old coffee oil in grooves will eventually be tasted. With the Unifilter, this is eliminated. The rest is, as always, grind size, dose, distribution. If your shot runs a little faster after changing, grind a touch finer. Try it with our Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight. This is our recommendation, one of many.
