La Marzocco O-Ring for Cool-Touch Steam Tip – Original Spare Part
A quiet hiss at the steam tip, barely noticeable at first – and at some point that full, focused hum during milk steaming that you knew from the start is simply gone.
Usually a tiny part is behind it: an O-Ring, barely bigger than a fingernail, that seals the tip of the Cool-Touch steam tip. Once replaced, the hiss disappears as quietly as it came – and the steam is focused and at full power for the milk again.
Why such a small part makes such a difference
The seal sits at a spot that heats up with every milk shot and cools down again, while steam is driven through it under pressure. Rubber loses elasticity over time under this combination of heat and pressure – completely normal wear, not a defect. A new O-Ring restores the seal, and with it the full steam power the Cool-Touch steam tip is designed for.
Our opinion on this is one of many: for anyone who maintains their machine regularly anyway, this swap barely registers as its own step – it simply belongs, like the daily backflush without cleaning agent.

Who it's for
For anyone who services their La Marzocco machine themselves and opens or replaces the steam tip now and then – whether in their own kitchen or a small showroom operation. No prior knowledge needed, no tools beyond what's already in the drawer.
What pairs with it
For the milk itself, our Milk Pitchers are a good match – compact and precise with Normcore, more generously shaped with a Rhino or Weber Workshops pitcher. For the regular care of the whole machine, take a look at our cleaning products. And for everything around your machine, you'll find more in our La Marzocco Collection further original spare parts and accessories.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the O-Ring on the Cool-Touch steam tip do?
It seals the tip of the steam wand so the steam stays focused and at full power for milk texturing, instead of escaping to the side.
How do I know the O-Ring needs replacing?
A fine hiss at the tip of the steam tip, weakening steam pressure, or a milk texture that suddenly looks rougher than usual are the clearest signs.
Does the O-Ring fit my machine?
It fits the tip of the Cool-Touch steam tip, as installed on several current La Marzocco models. Since versions can differ slightly by model year, write to us if unsure at office@coffeecoachingclub.ch – we'll tell you whether it fits your machine.
How often should I replace the O-Ring?
There's no fixed interval – heat, use and water differ a little for every machine. As part of the maintenance you're doing anyway, a quick look at its condition is worthwhile, and as soon as a hiss is audible, the O-Ring is usually the reason.
How is the O-Ring fitted?
It's simply swapped at the tip of the steam wand, without special tools and without touching the wand itself.
Can I see the product before buying?
Yes, in our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) you can experience the original spare part live.
The roastery tip
A machine that's cared for this carefully deserves beans with just as much character. Our main recommendation: Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight, dense, aromatic, with plenty of body. For maximum body with no acidity at all: Very Nutty. For anyone who wants to discover a fruity experience: Wild Peach, lively and always a discovery. Our recommendation from the roastery, one of many.
