The cap that gives the steam knob a finished look
The cap on the steam knob is a tiny part with a clear job: it covers the screw and keeps milk and cleaning agents out of the thread. If it falls off, you usually only notice once the screw underneath has become encrusted.
This cap has the part number F.1.169 and belongs to the steam knob of the GB5 X/S and the KB90. It costs little and belongs in every spare parts drawer.
When it's time to replace it
Order a new cap if any of the following applies:
- The cap is missing and the screw is exposed.
- It no longer stays in place and falls off during cleaning.
- It is torn or chipped.
- Milk residue has built up under the cap.

Who it's for
For businesses with a GB5 X/S or KB90 that want to keep even the small parts complete – and for service technicians as an inexpensive part to keep in stock.
What goes with it
From our workshop
In our workshop we always keep a few of these small parts in stock – otherwise a missing cap can hold up an entire service. That's our own experience from Bern and Zurich, not a manufacturer requirement. And because a service like this takes time: we usually have Cozy Chocolate in the pot.
Returns excluded
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured specifically for each order and cannot be resold once they have been installed or test-fitted on a machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick message and we'll check the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
Frequently asked questions
Does the cap also fit an older GB5?
It is listed for the X and S versions and the KB90. For older GB5 machines, we're happy to check using the serial number.
Is the screw included?
No, only the cap is supplied.
How is it attached?
It is fitted onto the knob. If it no longer sits firmly, the knob itself is usually worn.
Is a spare part worth it for so little money?
That's exactly why. An exposed screw becomes encrusted, and then a small part turns into a bigger job.
Can I pick up the part at your showroom?
Yes. We have two showrooms: Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Send us a quick message saying which part you need, and we'll have it ready and look at it together on your machine.
Not sure whether this part fits your machine? Write to us with the model and serial number at [email protected] and we'll check it for you. We deliver across Switzerland and to Liechtenstein in 2-4 working days.
