So that the steam can be dosed precisely again
On a GB5, the steam knob is touched a hundred times a day – often with a hand that was just holding the milk jug. The surface wears down accordingly fast, and at some point the grip slips exactly when you want to open it gently.
This is the new version of the knob, part number F.1.006.01. A new knob is the cheapest remedy for a valve that can only be operated with force – and it immediately makes the front look tidy again.
When it is due
A knob that is used every day says goodbye slowly. These signs point to a replacement:
- The surface is worn smooth, and the grip slips when your hand is wet.
- The knob has play and can be turned a little before the valve reacts.
- Cracks or chipped areas where milk builds up.
- The screw connection no longer holds, and the knob comes loose during operation.

Who it is for
For bars and cafés with a GB5 where the steam knob is in constant daily use, and for service technicians who want to bring a machine back to a condition in which everything feels clean.
What goes with it
From our workshop
When we replace a steam knob in our showrooms, we only tighten it hand-tight and then check the free play: the valve should respond immediately, without having to turn the knob a little first. That is our workshop routine, not a manufacturer's specification. We then test with milk and an espresso – preferably with Cozy Chocolate, which shows honestly in a cappuccino whether the temperature is right.
Returns excluded
Spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured to order and cannot be resold after being installed or test-fitted on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we will clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
Frequently asked questions
Does this knob also fit a GB5 X or S?
Not necessarily. This new version carries the number F.1.006.01; for the X and S series we stock a separate steam knob. The serial number tells us which one fits.
How can I tell the old version from the new one?
Most reliably by the part number on the spare parts sheet or by the serial number of your machine. Send us both and we will tell you.
Is a cap or a spring included?
No. The knob is supplied. Caps and other small parts are separate items.
Does the machine have to be switched off for this?
Yes. Let the machine cool down before you work on the steam valve – the area gets hot.
Can I pick up the part at your showroom?
Yes. We have two showrooms: Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Drop us a line with the part you need, and we will have it ready and look at it together on your machine.
Not sure whether this part fits your machine? Write to us with the model and serial number at [email protected] and we will check it for you. We deliver across Switzerland and to Liechtenstein in 2-4 working days.
