The surface the Micra's cups stand on
The Linea Micra is compactly built, so its top is valuable space: this is where the cups stand and absorb the heat rising from inside. The grate with part number C.1.659 is that surface – the visible, load-bearing part of the cup warmer area.
Because it is in constant use and wiped down every day, the years show: rings from cup bottoms, fine scratches, traces of cleaning agents along the edges. And anyone who has ever put something heavy on it also knows the dent that remains afterwards.
When it's time to replace it
The grate is bent and cups no longer stand level. The surface is scratched or has been dulled by a harsh cleaner. A strut has cracked. Or the machine is being refurbished before resale and should look like new again.

Important for installation
Beneath the top of the Micra, the boiler, hot lines and mains voltage sit in a tight space. So even for a simple sheet-metal part: switch off, disconnect from the mains, let it cool down and depressurise. We deliberately do not provide step-by-step instructions here. A bent grate is replaced, not bent back, otherwise it will only fit approximately afterwards.
Who it's for
For Micra owners who want to get their machine looking good again, and for workshops refurbishing a machine. If there is just a film of limescale on the grate, gentle cleaning will usually do the job.
What goes with it
Underneath sits the inner cover of the cup warmer. The housing family includes the housing base C.1.655 and the drip tray grate. Everything else is in the La Marzocco Linea Micra spare parts section.
From our workshop in Bern and Zurich: On the Micra, we never put a full milk jug on the grate – weight on a small area is exactly what causes the dent later on. Jugs belong on the counter, cups on the grate. That's our own routine, not a manufacturer requirement. Afterwards, an espresso is in order, usually Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight. If you like it stronger, go for Very Nutty; the full range is under Coffee beans.
No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or a trial fitting on the machine. So before ordering, check your machine's model, year of manufacture and serial number – or send us a quick message and we'll clarify the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a heating element inside?
No. Only the grate is supplied – no heating element, no cable, no electrics. The heat on the Micra comes from inside.
Is this the same as the housing base?
No. The housing base has the number C.1.655 and is a separate item, linked above. This is about C.1.659, the grate on top.
What colour does the grate come in?
The number has no colour suffix, so we don't claim a colour. If your Micra is black or white, send us the serial number and we'll check the version.
Are screws or brackets included?
No, only the grate is supplied.
Can I see and pick up the part at your Showroom?
Yes. We're in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Let us know beforehand and it will be ready for you.
