Coffee Coaching Club is the exclusive Swiss importer of Varia. The FLO Dripper was born from a collaboration between Varia founder Ramsey Gyde and Yozo Otsuki of Kurasu in Kyoto.
What makes the FLO Dripper special
The FLO Dripper comes with three interchangeable flow screens – Fast, Medium and Slow. They determine how quickly the water passes through and, with it, the contact time: a longer contact time brings more body and sweetness, a shorter one keeps the cup lighter and clearer. Additional screens are available separately. So instead of changing the grind size to control the flow, you simply swap the screen.
The dripper is made from stainless steel with a food-safe coating and a double-wall construction. The double wall keeps the outside cool and the brew temperature stable, without needing a separate handle. It takes flat-bottom Wave paper filters and holds 350 ml. Available in several colours – black, silver, Rose and rainbow.

What goes with it
The matching glass server is available as Varia FLO Glass Server, along with the Fast and Slow filter papers from the same collection. What do the three flow screens do?
They control the flow rate: Slow extends the contact time for more body and sweetness, Fast keeps the cup lighter and clearer. Swap the screen instead of the grind size.
Which filters fit the FLO Dripper?
Flat-bottom Wave paper filters. The Varia FLO Fast and Slow papers are matched to it.
Do I need a separate handle?
No. Thanks to the double-wall construction, the outside stays cool enough to hold the dripper directly.
Can I see the FLO Dripper before buying?
In our showrooms in Bern and Zürich we carry Varia products. Get in touch beforehand so the dripper is on-site.
Roastery tip
Start with the Medium screen and a ratio of around 1:16, so about 15 g of coffee to 240 g of water. If the cup tastes too light, switch to Slow; if it's too heavy, switch to Fast. Our Nutty Delight is a great place to start, and the Cozy Chocolate brings a rich chocolate note in the filter. That's our recommendation, one of many.
