So your portafilter sits steady again instead of wobbling
The portafilter holder is the fork your portafilter hangs in while grinding. With every dose it takes the weight of the portafilter, plus the small knock when you slide it in and the pull when you take it out. On a grinder that runs twenty times a day, that adds up to a few thousand movements a year on two screw points.
At some point you notice it: the portafilter hangs crooked, the grounds are distributed unevenly in the basket, and coffee trickles past the side. This item is the portafilter holder for the Rocket Faustino, part number R8G9996896. As an exception, it is listed with its scope of delivery: two sleeves and two screws are included.
When it's time to replace it
- The portafilter no longer sits level or tips to one side when you hang it in.
- The holder has visible play, even when the screws are tightened.
- The grounds no longer fall into the centre of the basket but land beside it.
- One of the arms is bent, cracked or worn out at the edge.
- The screw points are worn, so the holder can no longer be tightened firmly.

The documentation for this number does not state the dimensions or material of the holder. Nor does it say exactly which Faustino generations are covered. If in doubt, send us your grinder's serial number and we'll check the fit.
Important for installation
Unplug the grinder before you touch anything – the grinding unit sits directly above the discharge area. The holder is screwed on from the outside; the supplied sleeves must be fitted with it, otherwise the spacing is wrong and the portafilter will hang crooked again. If you have to open the grinder further for this, it's better to leave it to a qualified technician.

For cafés and workshops where a Faustino is in daily use and the holder is the first part to give way. And for everyone at home who notices after a few years that the portafilter no longer hangs in as snugly as it used to.

When we replace a portafilter holder, we don't tighten the two screws straight away. We first hang in the portafilter and align the holder to it – only then do we tighten them. That's our routine, not a manufacturer requirement, but it saves you taking everything apart a second time. At the same time we clean the discharge area with Puly Grind, since we're at it anyway; you'll find the full range under Machine and grinder cleaning.
We throw away the first grind afterwards and drink the second. For that we like to use Nutty Delight, because it shows whether the distribution is right again. For something milder, try Cozy Chocolate, for something stronger Very Nutty – all in our coffee beans.

Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for your order and cannot be resold once they have been installed or test-fitted on a machine. Does the holder fit every Faustino?
The documentation lists it for the Faustino without naming the individual generations. Send us your grinder's serial number and we'll check before you order.
Does it also fit the Fausto?
The documentation doesn't say. So we don't claim it does – please just ask us.
Is this an electrical part?
No. It's a purely mechanical holder. However, it sits directly below the discharge area, which is why we advise unplugging the grinder first.
