    Matcha Bamboo Spoon (Chashaku)

A slim, gently curved bamboo spoon that lifts exactly the right amount of powder from the tin in one calm movement. The Chashaku, as the tool is called in Japanese, has always been part of matcha preparation and brings measure and calm to the ritual.

Its shape is designed for one task: dosing. One level spoon equals about 1 to 1.5 grams of matcha, roughly the amount for one bowl. This lets you measure the powder evenly, without a scale, and the fine curve holds the light powder without much of it falling beside. Made of bamboo, the spoon stays light in the hand and fits calmly into the routine, from measuring to whisking.

    Who It's For

For anyone who wants to dose their matcha evenly without reaching for a scale. Whether for everyday use or classic preparation – the Chashaku makes measuring simple and calm. That's our view, one of many.

    Matching Accessories

The spoon complements the whisks, bowls and complete sets from our tea accessories collection, which ranges from affordable sets to elaborate ceramics. For water at the right temperature, take a look at our Varia Collection, and for a creamy matcha latte, a milk frother from our Subminimal Collection helps.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How much matcha does one spoon hold?

One level Chashaku equals about 1 to 1.5 grams of matcha, roughly the amount for one bowl. For a stronger matcha, use two spoons.

How do I care for the bamboo spoon?

Wipe it dry or rinse it briefly with clear water and let it air-dry. The dishwasher isn't suitable, as it damages the bamboo.

Do I really need the spoon?

Not necessarily, but it doses more evenly than an ordinary teaspoon and is part of classic matcha equipment.

Can I see the spoon in person before buying?

Our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) show a wide selection, but not our entire range – the display changes. Drop us a quick line at [email protected] before your visit, and we will check whether the product you have in mind is currently there. We deliver within 2 to 4 working days throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein. If you have questions, you can reach us during business hours or by email at [email protected].

Even dosing matters as much for matcha as for espresso – only the tool is different. If you like coffee beans as well as matcha, you'll find a good companion in a dense roast like Cozy Chocolate. That's our recommendation, one of many.
